Modern Flowers Volume I

by Meg Keene, Editor-In-Chief

Modern Flowers Volume I | A Practical WeddingThe joke is that I like old fashioned flowers and David likes modern flowers. (Neither of us are fond of post-modern flowers, which would, I suppose, be an empty vase). However, we both like dahlias. I think they look a little too much like Dr. Seuss flowers to have in my bouquet, but they make lovely arrangements. They grow in San Francisco in the summer, so we might find a way to work in their luscious bright colors.

hooray! I love dahlias. I’m sure I’ve seen them done tastefully in bouquets but I see your point… the bride from the wedding that photo is from carried a teeny little bouquet of just a few dahlias with lots of ribbons. I’m certain this style of bouquet has a name but I have no idea what it is. anyway, they got these flowers at the SF Flower Mart, which is a great and beautiful way to save money (although you have to get there are like 5am, which is why I’ve never been).

I’ve photographed some CRAZY doctor seuss flowers in the last year, so these look comparatively quite tame :)

Beeutiful. I heart dahlias… so many colors and shapes! And those vases are really cute, too!

Jessamyn: That’s totally what we are doing. We’re even doing a dry run this August. I’m excited to post about it.
I actually have seen pictures of her bouquet and like it a lot. I just like the froofy flowers, I’m afraid.

And Kate: I think I read they made those vases. It’s awesome stylish wedding.

Hi Meg! I’m guessing you mean the gray-ish J.Crew dress on the top row? I found that image on Brides.com here:

I’m pretty sure it’s the Genevieve Silk Radzimir dress, which appears to be sold out now, but they’ve had it before, so keep an eye out for it:

    I hope that’s helpful!
