Blue Skies And Broken Hearts

by Meg Keene, Editor-In-Chief

Blue Skies And Broken Hearts | A Practical WeddingI was at home, just blocks away that day, and seven years later I remember as if it were yesterday. Thank you to the fireman who rushed past us, running in as we tried to get out. Thank you to the policeman who held our hands and calmed us in the midst of all the smoke and confusion, who told us it was going to be fine even when they knew it was not. Thank you to the New Yorkers who showed more kindness and humanity then I have ever had the honor to witness. My thoughts and prayers are with those who’s hearts are heavy today.

Take a minute to think of all that there is to be grateful for, right here and right now. It is so very much.

I’ll be back here with more weddings tomorrow.

I was just feeling really frustrated with what I consider to be the pitiful 9/11 coverage this morning. Needless to say, you’ve restored my faith in humanity today. I’m glad you took the time to remember and to offer your thoughts to those for whom the day lives on every day, not just once a year.

Thanks for posting this. It was seven years ago, but I still remember it like yesterday, even though I’m now on the west coast.

How purely I remember the color of blue that the sky was that day. Thank you for this post, it perfectly states what many of us feel and remember.
