Scattered, but back

by Meg Keene, Editor-In-Chief

I’m just back, tired and happy, from a whirlwind trip to our beloved New York City. We flew out for a bridal shower that a dear friend insisted on throwing for me. At first, I was a bit apprehensive about the concept of a shower… it sounded so 1950’s. But now that I’m back, a little older and wiser, I can tell you that it was fantastic. If getting married is more joyful than this marvelous weekend, then one’s head must actually explode from all the love and delight.

As soon as I pull my wits together, I’ll be back with the full scoop.

  • Congrats on having such a wonderful shower.

Sometimes I think some of these things would be much more approachable and excitable if we just threw the ettiquete book out the window and instead tried to have a good party with our friends and family.

  • I can’t wait to hear about your shower — my maid of honor is trying to plan mine, and there’s been a lot of staring at each other saying “so … what’s a shower again?” All we know is that there will be cupcakes :-)

In other news, over the weekend I named A Practical Wedding as a recipient of the ultra-prestigious Uber Awesome Blog award! (I know, you must be so thrilled and honored.) If you want to tag 5 favorite blogs, steal the icon from my 11/16 entry and nominate away!

  • I can’t wait to hear the details!! Welcome back :)

  • Showers are random…and can be very awesome. You’re only a bride once.

It occurred to me that you may not have anyone to host one for you in San Francisco? If so, I’d be glad to volunteer. I recently did so for another friend, who knew a lot of people in the bay area but none who were good enough friends to host.
