Kate Harrison is a northern California photographer has been A Practical Wedding sponsor for quite a while, and I wanted to take a moment to draw your attention to her amazing body of work. I decided to post some non-wedding pictures, because what I look for in a wedding photographer is actually a really good non-wedding photographer, who will bring their eye to the day and make it sparkle. And with Kate, you get that, big time, plus she’s experienced at wrangling wedding guests. Bonus!
But here is the real kicker. I asked Kate why she liked working with readers of this blog, and she said:
I feel an automatic sweetness from your readers each time they contact me– a beautiful authenticity, happiness & passion. I find that we share the same values, interests & sense of humor! Practical Wedding couples are immediate friends & I would do almost anything for them. Truly! Your readers have such distinctive qualities & I crave to shoot their weddings.
So, because Kate loves you guys, we’ve set up a little giveaway I’m calling Local Squared. Kate is giving away a free wedding shoot which will include four hours of coverage, online proofing, digital files on disk withing 60 days of the wedding. The requirements of entering the giveaway are this:
- You’re a regular reader of this blog.
- You are getting married somewhere in Northern California (the Central Valley is most definitely included.)
- You are experiencing some sort of financial hardship in these rocky times. You DON’T need to specify what your hardship is on entering, this is the honor system, but maybe you or your partner or a parent lost your job, or your house. Maybe you’re in grad school and the job you thought you were going to get disappeared, or maybe it’s something totally different.
- You could use the free shoot on: April 10-12, May 8-24, July 10-12, October 16-18, or almost any weekday between now and October 31.
To enter, leave a comment on this post and say “I’m entering Local Squared.” That’s it, that’s all. I will close the post next Friday, and a winner will be selected at random. If we don’t find someone who fits the bill, we’ll open the giveaway up a bit, but the idea is to lend a helping hand to someone local to this blog and to Kate’s (and my) very economically hard-hit community.
