Remember back when we talked about MagnetStreet Weddings? They make chic and affordable little magnets for Save The Dates, or even casual wedding invitations. It's funny, because while I love crafty conceptual Save The Dates, in real life its the wee adorable magnets that stick with us the longest. We pin something to our fridge with a save the date magnet and think, "Oh, remember when they got married? Oh, remember what happened with the cocktail hour and... oh... those were good times." Which is all a fancy way to say, guests love these magnets, they really do.MagnetStreet also makes affordable invitations, and photo thank you cards (I love these! Everyone wants pictures of the wedding after the wedding!)But, it does get better. MagnetStreet Weddings has just introduced a interactive design tool, so you can customize your Save the Dates and Invitations with your own designs and fonts and colors, see a instant proof, decide if you want to order it or change it a bit, and then like magic the will appear in the mail box: affordable, but just like you. Hurrah. So, go check them out. The last time I posted about them, several readers said that they had found MagnetStreet easy to work with and delightful, which exactly what you want to hear!

Um..i have a question about the wedding photo thank you cards. Aren’t you supposed to send the cards out starting when you get gifts, way before the wedding? Or is it okay to wait until you get a photo to make into a card and then send ‘em all at once? (I know you aren’t Miss Manners or anything, thank the lord, but I feel like you would have a smart opinion on this, now that you are One and everything :) ).

    Anna,
I could only dream of being as smart and sassy as Miss Manners. She’s my writing idol and the original Ms. Practical Wedding. You must be thinking of Emily Post.

Anyway, you can go either way. I know a lot of people choose not to open wedding gifts until after the wedding, and then send thank you cards accordingly. We’re of the “when you get it, enjoy it” variety, so I’m sure we’ll open wedding gifts when we get them. Regardless, you should send cards within about two weeks of opening the gift. No matter what happens though, some people will give you gifts AT the wedding, so you could send those people photo thank you cards, which I know for a fact people love.

    Meg,

Thanks! That helps, and I appreciate the response. Like, a lot.
And sorry, I definitely didn’t mean to insult Miss Manners! I was thinking of a random overly proper archetype not the REAL Miss Manners, I am remiss. I should know what i am talking about before I apply titles…

We ordered Save the Dates from Magnet Street based on your suggestion, and they turned out really well. Tons of people told me how much the loved them. Ours have pics of us as little kids, so people who knew us way back were excited reminisce, and younger friends thought they were adorable too. Magnet Street might not want me to say this, but they did agree to take off the “magnetstreet.com” from ours. Since we picked a white magnet, it was pretty obvious. I just received another one in the mail, though, with dark gray writing on a black background and it’s barely noticeable. I would definitely recommend them. Everything came really quickly and was well packaged. Plus, I’m pretty sure there were a few extras in our box, which came in handy!

Just got my magnet announcements (actually the exact format pictured at the bottom of the post) and they are perfect! Everyone loves them and they were super easy to order–even with my dad “helping.” Highly recommend!

I used MagnetStreet for my save the dates and they turned out perfect! We decided not to use our pictures and chose a drawing of a bride and groom instead. Another great thing about MS is that there are cardstock backings that you can get with your magnet so 1) they are held in place and not just a magnet in an envelope and 2) you can give your guests a little extra info about the wedding without having to sacrifice simplicity on the magnet itself.

The magnets set the perfect tone for our wedding and we’ve gotten LOTS of compliments. Great experience all around.
