God knows we all love Toybreaker/Cyberoptix TieLab, since they have the worlds hippest ties, but this new tie from their Winter/Spring Collection may solve the To-Wear-Or-Not-To-Wear-A-Tie debate once and for all.
Because you see, ceci n'est pas une cravate {this is not a tie}. Of course once you own the object, this moves from The Treachery of Images to absurdism. And we all need a little absurdism in a wedding.
Yes. You just saw what you think you saw. A Practical Wedding has moved from Voltaire to Magritte. But that's why you don't read The Knot.

And when wearing the tie, you must take a picture of a groom holding an apple in front of his face … :)

Haha. Indeed, the literary and intellectual level are part of why I read this rather than the knot!

ha, this post made me snort and laugh out loud (I refuse to write LOL). Definitely the reason I don’t read The Knot

Whoa! I just purchased our ties from Toybreaker! Bethany (my contact there) was a real pleasure to work with. She customized the tie/ink colors for us and we received them in about a week. I highly recommend these guys if you are looking for unique ties for your wedding. Here are the ties we purchased:

Do you think Bethany is secretly laughing at us bridey blogger types?
Just wondering. She is *so cool*

Laughing out loud AND clapping my hands at the kitchen counter. Double whammy. A deconstructed wedding. What would Levi-Strauss say? M. Foucault? And anyone who would laugh at bridey blogger types would be, de facto, not cool at all. Says me. Weddings are mythic, are they not? Deconstruct a myth all you want but its power sticks around.

So great! Magritte and Voltaire in one post! To extend the conceit, maybe you could have a big sign at the front of… wherever you’re getting married that says ‘this is not a wedding.’ :)

Meg and fellow commenters, I really wanted to take this opportunity to say how much I think you all rock. Definitely why I don’t read the Knot, could not have said it better myself. Thanks for reminding me that you can plan a wedding AND still have a brain for other things as well.

You guys are the sweetest ever – (I’m not laughing at all, I’m so super appreciative of all the lovely things people say online) and I totally want to do the apple shoot! ;)
Thanks so much for all the kind words and support, I just wanted to make sure y’all know that any design can happen in any colorway for wedding orders, you aren’t limited to just what you see. Here’s a gallery of some of my custom work:

Again, many thanks, as someone who is engaged herself, I’m horrified by most of what I see out there from the “industry” bleh! I hope to be able to make something a little different and enjoyable for people. :)
