reclaiming wife
Sponsored Post

I'm thrilled (thrilled!) to announce APW's newest sponsor - Give Artfully, a registry made up entirely of fine art. Having grown up in a community of artisans, the idea of giving handcrafted work for momentous occasions is something that is very near and dear to my heart. My parents have a few hand thrown bowls that they received for their wedding that we've used as serving dishes my whole life. Now, this idea is being brought to the internet age. With Give Artfully you can register for pottery, for photography, for hand bound books, and more. Rachel, the founder says, "these artworks are designed as modern heirlooms, mean to last through your lifetime and be passed down through generations." Yesss.

(Oh yes, and she's always looking for experienced artists to add to the collection, so talented ladies, get cracking.)

What are you waiting for? Go look! Go look!

thanks so much for sharing! I’ve just created a registry for us there. My favorites are the photo albums and pottery items.

This idea is great for my partner and me. When we recently discussed the ‘issue’ of wedding registries. He listened as I told him my natural aversion to them (and I wont belabor the point here as I’m sure we’ve discussed the matter on APW). When I was done, he laid it on me. The first thought out and particular want he has expressed.

Hand Made Gifts only. Full stop. My partner is an artist and I understand and cherish his wish. He and his circle of friends show their love through creating together and for one another. My friends and faimly are accountants and engineers.

So, having an Etsy registry or the equivalent as you’ve suggested here is brilliant! Can’t wait to spread the news!

@D-day: Thanks for registering! and I agree – the handbound books and Melting Mountain's pottery are some of my favorite artworks, too!

@KatieF: I so appreciate your comments! & I love the idea of a handmade-gift-only wedding. It sounds like you & your partner are planning a truly special and intentional ceremony – exactly what this blog is all about (thanks, Meg!).

    Please do spread the word!

This is a fantastic idea! I just told my sister, and she was bummed that she didn’t know about this when she got married. I’m going to recommend this to my recently engaged friends! And I’ll definitely make one when I’m getting married (or maybe even before, just for fun)!

    Exactly!

This is an absolutely great idea… but I don’t think anyone attending our small wedding has the kind of money to buy us a $100+ gift, nor would I expect that of them.
I’m not complaining about the prices, as an artist myself I’d say these items are almost under-priced, but it would be nice if there were an options to put, say $20-40 towards an item on a registry for those who can’t afford fine art prices.

    Exactly!
