And We’re Off…

by Meg Keene, Editor-In-Chief

We’re off for our honeymoon kids, TODAY. We’re on the plane as this goes live, in fact. We had a weekend of excitement, of celebration, of moments of bliss. Now we’re off to soak it all in, to enjoy being married together.

While we are off adventuring, there will be posts for you, of course. They are scheduled. I won’t be checking in really. So don’t worry about me, because I’m not working, I’m faking it. And when we get back, I’ll be telling you about the wedding, and showing you some more pictures. But there will be no wedding recaps. Wedding recaps bore me to tears.

And I’m off. Two weeks with my beloved! I’ll see you on the other side.

    What?!

    We're not going with you?!

Reminds me of a true story. A mother with a five-year-old son was getting remarried. She gently explained to her little boy that she and her new husband would be going on a honeymoon alone.

Her son protested that he wanted to go too, saying …

"But I won't bother you. I'll just sit on the very edge of the moon."

I've been reading your blog since shortly after I got engaged this past Christmas. My wedding is in September, and for the most part, I've been more caught up in my DIY projects and checklists than truly excited. But for some reason, your last couple posts "Reporting Live…", "Here We Go", "Married", and of course this post, have finally triggered something to make me really, truly, squee-fully excited. Yay! And Thank you! And of course, Congratulations!!!

Enjoy marinating in your matrimony for a couple of weeks. I'll be looking forward to the full wedding disclosure when you return.

Enjoy those moments when you spot the ring on your hand (or his) and giggle with glee (it's still happening to me nearly a year later)! Soak up the relaxation– we'll be looking forward to those photos!

Ah, Emily, you'll hear ABOUT the wedding, but there is no d*mn way I'm telling you moment by moment by effing moment. 1) It's boring. 2) That's not the best way to tell a story. 3) It strips the magic off a day that needs all the magic in the world.

    Back to honeymooning.

    haha! fair enough!

since this is the only wedding blog i read, i had no idea there was a difference between sharing some memorable anecdotes/pictures and what i now gather is an ennui-inducing play-by-play. i'm glad we'll get a chance to see all of these lovely, mysterious things that you've been blogging about!
