We almost *never* do giveaways on APW, but today we get to do one, thanks to super-awesome-longtime-sponsor the Turtle Love Committee. I've told you loads of wonderful things about the Turtle Love Committee in the past, about their affordable engagement rings, about their unique wedding rings. I've told you about their ethical business practices (whee! guilt free rings!), and hello, their super fun pink sequened non-serious free engagement rings (for now, or for people who are just waiting for their dang wedding ring already.)
But today, a giveaway! Most particularly, a giveaway of Nepalese jewelry. These pieces are made in Nepal in accordance with fair trade standards, including maintaining a safe and healthy workplace, paying fair purchase price and wage, and creating a new market for artisans. translation, tangible goodness to wear around your neck. The winner gets to choose between the striking earrings:
Or the necklace, with I-swear-to-god a secret compartment for things like: love notes, small wishes, locks of hair, tiny gifts, or just small secret things.
You'll notice this is not particularly wedding jewelry. They could be for a wedding, or for an attendant gift, for sure. But they could just be for you, for wearing. That's because this jewelry is part of Turtle Love's new jewelry line which includes beautiful earrings and necklaces. So this is a tip of the hat to all of you not-engaged-and-not-even-thinking-of-being-engaged, just-like-hanging-out-around-all-these-smart-ladies readers. Enter the contest already.
So! to enter, please just leave a comment about why you'd like the earrings or necklace. Tell us where you would wear it, or why it says, "please, please, take me home." And then go check out the pretty ethical jewelery.

I love this – I love the idea of the necklace keepsake. It's just beautiful.

These pieces are amazing. I would love to wear the necklace during the honeymoon that we plan on taking (when we have saved some money).

They're gorgeous… I love how they have stones, but the piece isn't *about* the stone, they're just part of the whole, if that makes any sense… and the detailing on the silver is so delicate without being fussy and just gorgeous, and it would be so much fun to fill the compartment with something secret and important from my fiance. We're currently long distance while we finish grad school, and I miss him a lot.

The jewelry is beautifully designed, simple, but beautiful. I'd love to rock the earring during my upcoming honeymoon with soon-to-be-hubby.

Hmmm. A secret compartment….so many possibilities! I wonder if I could put a little bit of fancy salt in there for when my sad little cubicleville lunch needs some extra sass. These are so pretty and I love that they are made fairly.

The necklace is gorgeous. The Nepalese jewelry actually has special meaning for me and my fiance. The first international adventure we took together was to Nepal, where he was a field assistant for me as I worked on my Master's degree. We were together constantly on that trip, and I clearly recall thinking that this relationship was a keeper, since we didn't want to kill each other by the end of the trip! It was a turning point in the relationship for me. It's been 6 years since then, and we're finally getting around to getting married next summer. Yay!

I love both pieces, but I'm especially in love with the necklace. I'm living apart from my husband right now because I'm trying to finish my graduate degree, and some days I could really use a little love note around my neck!

I would love to be able to give the necklace to my friend and wedding vocalist. Her husband is military, and keeps going abroad (first Iraq, and now Germany) and I would love for her to be able to carry a memento with her every day!

They are both gorgeous pieces, but I love the necklace and the secret compartment! I'm always looking for unique jewelery that is still elegant for work, and this fits the bill!
Thanks for the giveaway!

Ooh, necklace, definitely. You had me at secret compartment (this is also why I love Roos). I would like to think that I would give this away to my friend who's marrying us, or to one of my many other awesome helpers, but I suspect that once I came up with the perfect small to put in that locket I'd never be able to let go.

One of my bestest friends and bridesmaids is a box person. People always give her boxes. And her boxes hold wonderful, mysterious things: feathers and crystals and spells and grains of sand, bits of fabric and love notes. Each piece of ephemera has a story. And her apartment brims with boxes and stories.
This would be perfect to give her as an attendant gift. She's working extra for plane fare and doing soo soo much for us–I would love to give her such a perfect, dear little box.
Go, Turtle Love Committee! I love their stuff.

Early in our marriage (just this past May!) I had forgotten the password to some online account or another, and my husband sent me a text to remind me and the text said "The password is Kelly loves Ellen" (it wasn't really…) I love that sentence, and I've kept it in my text message inbox. I'd just LOVE to write it on a scrap of paper and put it in that gorgeous necklace. It's just beautiful…

These are absolutely gorgeous. First of all, I would love to get one and then to wear it and with the secret compartment, tuck a little love note from my fiancee who currently lives 7 hours away. Also, I think it would be a neat thing to pass down, like if I had a daughter someday.

If I had the secret box necklace I would keep it empty, as a reminder to Tim and I of the words from Jim Croce's song, Time in a Bottle: "If I had a box just for wishes, and dreams that had never come true, the box would be empty except for the memory, of how they were answered by you."

Although I'm financially stable and budget conscious, my mom has criticized my "over-spending" on things like fair trade products and organic foods. I think either of these would be the perfect gift for her, and the best way for me to start a gentle conversation with her about my plans to have a simple, "low-impact" wedding.

Turtle Love is amazing. Thanks for putting them on my radar!
The necklace would look amazing with my MoH dress from my college roomie's wedding – which I will be wearing at my own engagement party! I'm getting a second wear out of my pile of bridesmaid dresses at all of my own wedding events. Her little black party dress is perfect for our fancy New Year's engagement party, and a necklace with a secret something from my honey would be an awesome accessory!

That necklace is beautiful! I love the ethics behind free trade (the ties we ordered from etsy used free trade pragmatics as well). I think that necklace would be stunning with a black dressy top, during the honey moon at dinner in a nice, classy restaurant. :)

Wow, I was reading through your blog which I love. I got engaged about a month ago and am rather clueless on wedding planning…it was always the part I dreaded most about getting married! I love looking at my engagement ring everyday, and my favorite part about it is that the diamond is surrounded by little sapphires! I told my fiancee nearly a year before we got engaged that I wanted sapphires in my engagement ring, and he remembered. I have been looking for sapphire jewelry (or at least jewelry with blue stones) to wear for my wedding to compliment my ring! These pieces are perfect..artsy like me, and mysterious like I would like to be :)

I would love to give the necklace to my fabulous cousin, who, if we had had a traditional wedding, would have been my maid of honor. Even without the honor, she still answered my calls from the other coast at all hours, listening, laughing, and supporting all of my ideas.

I love Turtle Love Committee. I recently made the decision to swap my diamond engagement ring for one of TLC's eco-friendly blue topaz rings, because I wanted to feel good about what I was wearing… plus it is so much more beautiful and unique. I just really admire the practices of this company, and of course I think that the earrings and necklace are beautiful. They remind me of the house where we are getting married next month… it's a historic home that is Art Deco down to the very last detail.

Gorgeous design! I love the secret compartment – I think I would have to hunt for a tiny tiny treasure that would fit in it – like a miniscule shell or stone from a trip with my fiance. But I think I'd go for the earrings really – I think earrings are underrated and dangly earrings are probably my favourite current favourite jewellery item to wear <3

I really love this. Blue is my wedding theme. I love blue. I would wear it during the wedding, and after the wedding, and inside would be a note-the first note my soon-to-be-husband gave me. And then after the wedding, I would give it to my mom with a picture of my brother in it. We miss him, and it would be nice if she could have him near.

I don't know if this contest is over or not, but I think this is beautiful! Although I am getting married, I would give it to my daughter. She is getting married in May. I would put a note in there, a special note letting her know how much I love her and how proud I am of her.

The necklace. Just for me, just for wearing.
I found your blog via Cate Subrosa and have been reading for months. Finally letting you know, in the hope of owning this wonderful necklace… perhaps to belatedly celebrate my 50th birthday this September… perhaps to celebrate having just started my first full-time job since 1995 (having been a student in the mean time, up to and including a PhD, which I've already celebrated, big style)… or perhaps Just Because.
I love your blog, and I enjoy visiting many of your sponsors, especially Turtle Love Committee. I wish joy in the wearing to whoever wins this gorgeous, generous giveaway.

The locket necklace. For heaven's sakes, a little tiny fairy compartment? That is the coolest, cutest, most charming thing I've seen for a while (aside from the twinkle in my fiance's eyes whenever he laughs, but that goes without saying). Speaking of fiance, we wrote snail mail letters for the first part of our courtship, and I'd keep the stamp from his very first letter in that locket.
