Cara & Jeff’s Wedding In 73 Seconds

The lovely Cara will be joining us as a wedding graduate soon, but after a long week, I had to sneak peak this wedding for you, because it will make you smile big-big-big.

Facts And Rambles:
1) This wedding took place blocks away from my long time home in Brooklyn, at The Farm On Adderley. I ate there the first week they opened, right around the time we saw a site specific To Kill A Mockingbird a block away. That’s when we knew our ghetto-ass neighborhood had made it. And now it hosts practical weddings. Oh, Brooklyn.
2) This video was not part of the couples plan to take over the world with their wedding. Instead they spent $100 to make a little photo corner with a frame from e-bay and some cool fabric. Then the photo corner got totally outta-control, and later they thought, “Heeeyyyyy…. this looks like a stop motion film.” So they made it one.
3) Don’t you want to be at this wedding? I do. F*ck pretty weddings, let’s bring on the fun.
4) Cara and I (and um, Alyssa) want to reassure you that this is not one more thing you have to live up to*. No, no, no. It’s just a snippet of surprising wedding magic, shared with Team Practical, since you’re part of the support that makes such magic happen. Happy Friday, kids, and kisses from Brooklyn.

*But if you’re at that point of madness that comes at the end of wedding planning where you’re slamming your head against the wall shrieking that you’re pretty sure you have to have a videographer shooting on Super 8 even though you never wanted a videographer ever (Been there. Stupid blogging industrial complex) this one’s for you. Read: you TOTALLY DON’T.

Thank-you! I'm at home sick, feeling sorry for myself and that made me smile a little lop-sided smile and remember that life isn't so bad, i'm married to a wonderful man, the sun is shining and there is joy in the world.

BIG Smiles! I think what is so awesome about this is that it was spontaneous and not scripted!

And *THAT* is the magic of not having a cooker cutter wedding :)

  • Anonymous

So, so cute and fun! Oh and EFF super 8 I don't need someone following me around all day ON TOP OF a photographer. Don't add "ugly wedding face" to the list of reasons I would have a mental breakdown.

Aw, this was a great happy friday moment. Even if I plan to never attempt to replicate it, I'm glad someone else had so much fun with it for the rest of us!

happiness in 73 seconds is more like it.

and yes, I hate that the blogging industry make me feel like super 8 is the key to all happiness.

but it's just so darn purdy.

wouldn't it be super if FlipVideos had a Super 8 setting? Can someone invent that for me, please?

We had a photo booth like this at our reception. We put up a simple back drop and had a basket full of props from Goodwill (a big frame, cowboy hats, feather boas, etc.) and we had a friend take the pictures with our camera.

We thought maybe a few people would take some fun shots, but almost everyone at the reception did it! The pictures turned out so great and we put them into our guest book next to everyone's signature/message. It was perfect. We now have an awesome photo of almost everybody at our wedding having fun.

Adorable – LOVE IT! This beats a photobooth hands down, any day. Looks like a ton of fun, too.

Altho I gotta say, I still *LOVE* pretty weddings. Pretty can be fun. And fun can look pretty. As evident by the lovely folks in that video! :)

Adorable. And Ditmas Park is not the ghetto!

  • http://www.blogger.com/profile/09526722516550185150 Meg

Huh-huh, Anon. Come on back to talk about that when you've seen someone shot on your street, and lived next to a major drug dealing complex for five years.

Ditmas Park may not be the ghetto NOW. Or, you know, most blocks of it may not be the ghetto now. Some blocks, well, fewer guns, but still lots o' drugs.
