The Info—Photography: Christina Richards (APW Sponsor) / Venue: Morris County Golf Club / Officiant: Erica’s brother, Douglas / Invitations: Designed by A Printable Press (APW Sponsor) and letterpress printed by Mercurio Brothers / Programs and Menus: We made them! / Flowers: Bloomers Designs / Band: Michael Arenella and His Dreamland Orchestra / Dress: Ann Taylor / Hairpiece: BHLDN / Pin: Family Heirloom / Shoes: Vera Wang Lavender / Hair & Makeup: Plaza Salon and Spa / Suit & Shirt: Michael Andrews Bespoke* / Tie: Pink / Shoes: Mezlan
*Yes, my husband had his clothes custom made and I bought my dress on sale off the rack less than a month before the wedding
Other cool stuff: We wrote our own non-religious ceremony. The readings were from Margaret Marshall’s decision in Goodridge v. MA DPH and Margery Williams’s The Velveteen Rabbit. The ceremony and vows were based on Khalil Gibran’s The Prophet on Marriage.
One sentence sum up of the wedding vibe: We worried it would be “country club stuffy” but it ended up feeling relaxed and joyful, maybe a tiny bit elegant, for the first really sunny day of spring.
Favorite thing: I thought it would be the food, or the dancing, or the photographs (and I loved all of those things) but it was actually the ceremony. I had thought of the ceremony as something we were doing for our parents (I would have been happy to elope at the county courthouse) but it was solemn, and funny, and beautiful, and completely us and I’m so glad we actually got married in front of as many of our family and friends as we could.

Love the dress, love the photos, love “The Book of Love” especially since it was played at my wedding and makes me all nostalgic. Congratulations!

What a lovely, joyful wedding! There’s so much laughter in these photos. Congratulations!
Also, I second the song choice props! We had a trio of friends and family play and sing The Book of Love during our ceremony. Listening to them and watching my almost-husband sing along to me might be my favorite part of the day.

I love this! I especially love that your husband had a bespoke suit while you wore an off-the-rack Ann Taylor dress.
And three cheers for having a simple, heartfelt, practical wedding at a place usually reserved for stuffy, uptight functions.

Love them. Ceremony inspiration from Goodridge. I am straight and newly engaged. It kills me my friends can’t all legally get married. Erica and Sean, you guys rock.

We used Book of Love in our wedding ceremony and also had a very “country club” vibe, so I really really love this one!

Who is that grande dame in the purple (second photograph from the top)? Man, I hope to have that much attitude when I’m her age!

Too funny that he got a custom suit and you got a dress last minute! You look fabulous, though! The colors in your bouquet look beautiful against your dress, probably moreso than a white one.
Your wedding does look very classy, but also fun!

Just had to pipe up and add that my husband had his clothes custom made and I found my $250 dress at the crazy Filene’s Running of the Brides sale :)

3 cheers for APW for destroying the stereotype that women are always more up-tight about their (wedding) clothes than men, and that women’s (wedding) clothes are always more expensive than men’s!

Everytime I hear The Book Of Love, I think of Richard Gere up the escalator with a rose, and I told my before-then-boyfriend, that is Magic.
His response – then you’d ask me to go down the escalator when I reach the top so that you could see me come up again and again.
Me and something about escalators. And Richard Gere.

Oh man, I saw that the music was “The Book of Love” and I started grinning and couldn’t stop all the way through. “You ought to give me wedding rings,” indeed. :D

so simple, yet you could see that everyone is smiling and teeming with expectations as the ceremony progresses. the couple is a sweet pair, and it is quite understandable that they are madly in love :)
Seeing the pictures, i can hear the background music and I can imagine a romantic wedding for myself. thanks for this post :)
