Favorite thing about the wedding: We had all of our guests walk down in a single line to meet us for the start of the ceremony to create a circle with us. That was hands down our most favorite moment. We were overwhelmed. We cried. We couldn’t get it together and had to stumble through the beginning of the ceremony as we continued to cry. That is what made it awesome. Not our flowers or our clothes or our decorations or the location. We didn’t have a dance floor, we didn’t have a reception, we didn’t wear veils, we didn’t carry flowers, we didn’t do a toast, we didn’t have a honeymoon, we didn’t have a bridal party, and we didn’t have a marriage license. But we had a wedding. We made a commitment to each other that did matter. We asked each of our guests to celebrate, acknowledge and bless our marriage at a time when our government does not. That moment was so empowering and so full of joy.
Other cool stuff we should know about: We were married on both Cinco de Mayo and Vesak (celebration of Buddha’s birth, enlightenment and death) with the Supermoon that night. Seeing that moon come up over the lake on our wedding night was ridiculous and so full of good energy. The weekend was pure magic.

Sorry if this is shallow, but I LOVE the black tights! I have always toyed with the idea that, if I wear a short wedding dress, I’ll wear black tights – because they are my uniform from October through March. They are just so me. And now I know it looks great as a bride,too!

What an awesome wedding! I love the joy in all the photos, the canoe, the pink jeans, and that cool octahedron thing (is it a pinata?).
Also, another federal court ruled that DOMA is unconstitutional today so I hope that it’s only a matter of time before the government will recognize your marriage and those of other LGBTQ couples.

I was so stoked about this!! When we returned home from the weekend was when Obama came out publicly to back gay marriage so we took that as a wedding present, too. :)

I actually saw your wedding home video on LeahandMark.com and cried my eyes out. and immediately sent it to my finace and mother. The canoe, the single file line of love, the balloons, the woods. It’s all total perfection and so, so touching. So thank you for sharing it with us all, because its seriously heartwarming stuff.
