One week ago David and I joyfully welcomed a baby boy into the world. The birth process had complications, but we’re all home now, healing and healthy. More than anything, we’re feeling over-the-moon happy to have all three of us together.
At some point, I hope to have some words to wrap around the experiences of the last nine months: a hard pregnancy, a complicated but wonderful birth, traumatic first hours, the joy of new motherhood, and the way marriage has kept me afloat through all of it. Till then, I’ll say that motherhood changes everything (but you’ve heard about that part) and also nothing. We’re still here. Showering and reading the New York Times, just blearily and with more tiny cuddles.
I’ll leave you in the talented and capable hands of Maddie and the team. For now I’m going to spend time with my two guys: one big, one very small.

Congratulations! Happy to hear you three are home safe and sound and snuggly. Look at those feet! Too cute.

Yay for tiny little baby feet!
And hey, the fact that you get to add the word wonderful to the the experience of a complicated birth is a pretty big bonus, from one complicated birth person to another!

Mazel tov! It’s encouraging to hear that everything and nothing has changed, as that’s the way I felt about marriage. I think I could maybe handle that, some day.

He’s quite a lucky little guy to be a part of such a smart, loving, and beautiful family. Since this marks the end of your pregnancy chapter, it seems a good time to say one last big thank you for all your transparency through that. You are a world-changer, Meg. Sending heartfelt well-wishes your way.

Congrats. Enjoy your baby cuddles. I’m glad to hear that everything ended okay even though you had some difficulties. I sit hear awaiting my own baby and what life will bring. I’m due early next month, but baby is breech so we are headed for a scheduled C-section on New Year’s Eve unless something changes. Not what I planned but sometimes life throw us curve balls.

How wonderful to hear your expanded baby family is all home, safe and sound (and SHOWERED!!), especially with the word “traumatic” in there. I’m excited to hear your thoughts on marriage in the context of a new baby. Our little dude is 9 weeks & I keep finding myself thinking about how our marriage has evolved in such a short time. How much I’m learning about my husband and myself that I didn’t realize before. How important our relationship is and how much I love the crap out of him. Funnily, I felt this way when planning our wedding (which also included irrational fears, doubt about my life choices, and joy for what’s to come).
Also, cuddling up with two boys, big & small, is one of my greatest pleasures these days!
