Other cool stuff we should know about: We had been together for nine years and after getting engaged we managed to get down the aisle in six months. We didn’t want a long engagement and we knew we didn’t want a very traditional wedding. We had no best man or bridesmaids, no colour theme, no formal line up—we just wanted a fun day to celebrate with all our friends and family. We chose the Glasshouse Hotel for their amazing roof garden with stunning views over the city that’s been our home for fifteen years. The ever dependable Scottish weather gave us the most atmospheric misty day which Lauren captured beautifully in our photos. We had a Humanist ceremony which our wonderful Celebrant, Tim, made us write ourselves and which surpassed all our expectations. Everyone commented that the whole day was very “us” which is all we wanted. We had the most amazing day full of fun and laughter, we’ll never forget it.

Favourite thing about the wedding: Having all our family and friends, from all stages of our lives, there to celebrate with us. And the very sweaty Northern Soul Dance Party at the end of the night. Oh, and the baby in a kilt—every wedding should have one!

    What a beautiful wedding!

And I love that APW UK is happening. It’s so nice to see a wedding that happened *literally* across the road from my house on my favourite blog!

I know, it’s awesome, right? And it makes me feel a bit less nervous about this weather business.

We had a baby in a kilt – I agree all weddings should have one!

Lauren’s photos are beautiful and the love and joy radiates from all of this! And that dress! So beautiful and elegant and floaty. If I could get away with it I’d wear a dress like that every day. Gorgeous.

And now I’ve just seen that the dress is from where I nearly got mine from. And now I think I might cry a little (loved that place and the teacakes they gave while trying on and the fact I had to rush back as I had walked out with a headpiece still on)

That baby in the kilt is so, so adorable. He’s like a little sweetie on top of a cupcake.

This is all so beautiful and was obviously a wonderful day. Honestly, when I read the title with the words Scottish, rooftop, wedding and mist I just thought ‘ooh, brave’. It looks like you pulled it off with aplomb.

Ooh, and I also love the Peter and Jane book with the rings.

Love your beautiful headband (and shoes! and dress! and flowers!). So lovely to see a bride rocking short hair.

Love the Peter and Jane book :)

Sometimes I just want to marry Lauren’s pictures. OK, oftentimes.

Oh, this is so lovely. Edinburgh is one of my favorite cities in the world — just so atmospheric and gorgeous. Mighty congratulations!

OMG. That baby. In the KILT. I just died a little from the cute.

Lovely! My husband and I stayed at the Glasshouse for one night as a special treat and spent an afternoon drinking champagne in that roof garden. It is so lovely and I imagine must have been wonderful for your wedding!

I’ve been reading APW for a couple of weeks now and it’s really helped my sanity. This is my first comment :-)

We’ve been together nearly 14 years and when we get married in September we’ll have had just 4.5months of planning. I do have a bridesmaid and flower girl (her daughter), but there is no best man/ushers. It’s great to read about another couple doing a similar thing to us (also in the UK), and looks like it turned out beautifully.
