Kelley & Matt

Hand-crafted San Francisco wedding in a High School

Kelley, Hair Stylist & Matt, Entomologist

One sentence sum-up of the wedding vibe: Our wedding was a handcrafted, highly-personalized, casual, giggly, and sexy celebration of our love for each other and our love for our friends and family.

Soundtrack for listening: “La Vie En Rose” by Louis Armstrong

Other cool stuff we should know about

We did almost everything ourselves. Kelley folded fifteen hundred paper cranes; Matt made wall backdrops out of old romance novels. Matt made our own desserts, wedding cake, and bridal bouquet; Kelley made the bridesmaid’s bouquets, and spent forty-plus hours gluing thousands of tiny crystals onto her shoes. We had some of Matt’s students work as videographers and DJs. We ended the night with a trip to our favorite strip club in SF, because, when else can you go to a strip club wearing a wedding dress??

Favorite thing about the wedding

The vows that we wrote ourselves and shared with each other and building the ceremony together from scratch.

I LOVE that time-lapse shot of you both coming together for a kiss…totally fantastic!

  • Kat Roberts

    It was an amazing wedding!

  • Emma Klues

Ahhhh music ON the page of the post! This new website gets better by the day! What a beautiful and joyous photo essay. What is that white stranded necklace made out of, flowers? It’s gorgeous!

    • Meg Keene

I KNOW! We’re still learning how to use all of our awesome tools. And adding some. You know.

      • Rebekah

Gotta chime in here that I love having the music there on the post. I also wanted to mention I love the new layout of the last few days’ posts at the bottom of the page. It’s way more intuitive for me.

    • Kelley

Hi Emma! The necklace was a 5-stranded lei made out of pikake flowers. (We did a lei exchange within our ceremony.) It smelled amazing too.

      • Emma Klues

Seriously stunning, love this idea. I hadn’t even thought of the smell, that’s just the coolest thing. If I had to redo my wedding right now I think I would do a flower necklace!

Awwwww! This looks like it was an amazing wedding!

I love that photo of the love letter, because all those silly nicknames remind me of how my husband and I talk to each other.

On a totally superficial note, the bride’s tattoo is gorgeous!!!

    • Kayjayoh

      It totally is!

    • HannahESmith

Ha! I missed this the first time I read it: “We ended the night with a trip to our favorite strip club in SF, because, when else can you go to a strip club wearing a wedding dress??”

    Perfect!

    • Matt

Yup, that was pretty awesome! As the featured husband here, I can assure you that it was all Kelley’s idea. ;-)

Lovely! And, as a woman that has big, visible tattoos getting married in SF, this is so inspiring. Gorgeous post!
