Other Cool Stuff we should know about

We had our rehearsal dinner on the outdoor patio at À Côté Restaurant, our favorite date night spot in Oakland. During one of the toasts, a hummingbird landed for a couple minutes over us. How often to do you see a hummingbird, let alone one that isn’t whirling around? My friend quickly noted that the hummingbird is a symbol of vibrancy and life in myriad cultures. Receiving this omen really resonated with us throughout our wedding weekend. We were surrounded by our best friends and family, all of whom had been there for us when Paul underwent chemotherapy the previous year. The love and support we’ve received in the good times and bad—along with seeing that bird perched above—provided us with an overwhelming sense of comfort, care, and calm.

Favorite Thing about the wedding

Seeing each other for the first time at the Claremont Hotel and later in the night, taking a moment to absorb all of our guests’ smiling faces of joy.

What a gorgeous wedding! All the emotion comes through so beautifully in the photos.

I’m excited to recognize the venue! We almost got married there too (but moved it to a different state…) So pretty!

  • BreckW

I love the Brazilian Room!! You look beautiful and full of joy. Congrats!

Oh my goodness, this is where my parents got married! I’ve only seen it in their wedding photographs. What a sweet and meaningful wedding; I got choked up seeing these photos.

So glad to see another bride weeping during the ceremony! My wedding photos show me crying down the aisle, through the ceremony, back up the aisle, and all through speeches. I was disappointed when I first saw them, but when I look at these photos, I just remember what a HUGE and beautiful thing it is to get married. (And then I get choked up again.)

Beautiful, beautiful wedding. It looks so honest, and loving, meaningful, and FUN. And Maddie, you are so, so talented.

Yes to this. Gorgeous photos full of real emotion. I am certain I cry as well (I start to tear up now just thinking about it), but I have decided that it’s okay, because it is a huge beautiful thing, and if that’s how I experience it, so be it. I ordered waterproof eye make up and it will be what it will be. xo

      <3.

Also, as someone who goes to a LOT of weddings, the most memorable ones are the ones with lots of tears. And they make for the BEST parties.

If the bride is around, I’d love to know if there’s any story (or rhyme, or reason!) behind the dresses of the wedding party (two wearing cream, two wearing coral…).

Everything here is beautiful by the way – especially the starlet gown!! Have I seen the pic of bride and dad before somewhere? It looks awfully familiar, maybe even from APW… :)

      I like your name :)

That dress is all kinds of glam, I just love it. And all of this. Congrats!!

As the artist that did Grace’s hair and makeup for the wedding day I am so thrilled to see these pictures! So lovely. This bride had amazing style and such a vision for the day, and we can all see how beautifully it came together. Congratulations again to Grace and Paul! Beautiful pictures Maddie! And check out BOTH of Grace’s dresses, stunning.

Wow, such beautiful, glamorous photos! The hummingbird story is really cool — you could incorporate a hummingbird into the design of your family monogram or return address stamp. It would be lovely to carry that symbol throughout your long marriage and family.

PROPS. I could not comfortably show that much cleavage. You look STUNNING. I am just not that brave!!!

  • Caitlin_DD

What a gorgeous, happy wedding! And not one, but two fabulous dresses. You go, girl!

  • Alyssa M

Everything about this just exudes classiness. Such a beautiful wedding!

    Love the sexy dress!

I’ve spent a long-time (years!!) on APW lurking, but I had to come out to say how thrilled I am when I see a grad post and realize that I went to school with the groom. I’m proud to say this has happened more than once, and it makes me happy to see these guys marrying practical women! With this wordless wedding, I have the added bonus of photos of some of my favorite beta theta pi’s! Congrats! Your wedding looks like it was a beautiful celebration with a lot of wonderful people <3
