Favorite thing about the wedding

The intimacy of the whole event. The love and smiles and laughter and tears during the ceremony. My husband walking his mother down the aisle to her seat. The confetti canons. Our alone time right after the ceremony—we dipped out for a walk around the block after we said I do. Just to be alone and take it all in was really important. I don’t even remember what we said to each other, that moment exists in my memory as only overwhelming feelings of joy and excitement and happiness and accomplishment.

OTHER COOL STUFF WE SHOULD KNOW ABOUT

Although our wedding went from being “sometime in 2014 or 2015″ to “yeah, it’s in two weeks!” for an incredibly tragic reason, we are both still so happy that we chose to do it that way (my mother-in-law, who passed away sixteen days after our wedding, had been battling cancer for about four years and we realized we needed to act fast so she could be there). Our wedding was spontaneous and loving and exciting and FUN. We didn’t get the wedding we were starting to picture in the beginning stages of planning—we got something even better. I would say that actually PLANNING a wedding in seventeen days is not nearly as difficult as MAKING the decision to take the leap and go through with it. Once we were both committed to making it happen, everything came together exactly as it should have. Working with my husband during that time period is something I’ll never forget. In fact, I think I remember more of that than the actual wedding.

And if we could go back and do it all over again, we wouldn’t change a thing.

Stay tuned later today for Cat & Jonney’s How We Did It Post, which might be some of the best backyard wedding planning and logistical advice you’ll ever get. (possibly just some of the best wedding advice, period.)

Wow, AMAZING photos. Everything single thing was beautiful! Loved seeing the dogs with you 2 on the other side of the fence. Congrats!!

OMG- my bridesmaids are wearing that dress (in mist gray)! I kept thinking what a gorgeous wedding dress it would make, and that soft pink is amazing! Ladies who need a crazy reasonably prized gown, take note.
Love this wedding, congrats to the bride and groom!

Love to see another BHLDN bride. I tried on that dress and loved flouncing about in all the tulle. This wedding seems so joyous and fun, although I’m sad to hear about your mother-in-law :(

Sobbing. This wedding is beyond gorgeous. It’s rare a wedding makes me cry (I’m a stone cold ice princess, guys), but within 3 photos I was tearing up and by the time I got to the one of the groom shedding a tear, I am a blubbering mess at the public library. Love it. Love everything about it so much. Congratulations!

LOVE this, and so admire you for pulling it together so fast, for such an important reason. I spent nearly a year in a state of constant-stress planning my Summer-2013 wedding (I loved the wedding but HATED the planning, never want to do it again)…if I could do it over, I would do what you did. GORGEOUS! Congrats.

  • Rachel

Can I just say you look just like Allison Williams (Marney) from Girls? I really thought that’s who’s wedding this was when I first started reading. And what an awesome wedding :)
