Whenever I’m struggling to explain what the typical APW reader is like, I always start with “stylish.” And then I have to throw in a thousand caveats, because “style” in wedding speak is an entirely different beast from style in the real world (APW readers have both, just to be clear), and what I’m really saying when I talk about APW style, is that you guys have an unwavering sense of self. Which means that when it comes to your weddings, attire is a frequent sticking point. Because the dresses on offer usually fall into one of three categories:
- Too princess-y
- Too expensive
- It’s just not… me
Enter A & Bé Bridal Shop: Denver’s raddest bridal shop and traveling dress store. A & Bé Bridal Shop knows exactly what you want out of your wedding dress: implicit style, not cookie cutter, preferably indie designed, and affordable (think under $3K). And lucky for you, A & Bé Bridal Shop gets full marks in all categories.
In short, A & Bé Bridal Shop is where you go after you’ve had enough of wedding dress shopping. Or as one happy customer put it:
A & Bé’s style is more indie-designer, unique, casual, and almost everything in the store IS UNDER 3K! Everyone will be like, bitchhh where did she get that dress? I walked in and my eyes instantly knew this was my store—so many things caught my gaze immediately. How often does it happen that the less expensive option is the one you love the most?
I attribute this completely to them really understanding their target customer.
Are you a creative girl who likes to dress distinctively? Does the idea of wearing a well-known designer brand dress that you can probably find one hundred of on one of those used wedding dress websites turn you off? Do you love being the girl to discover a mega-talented designer before everyone else? Also, are you not a millionaire? Maybe not even a thousandaire? This is for you!
Now, I’m assuming everyone who doesn’t live in Denver is groaning at their computer right now, because all this goodness is too far away to be useful. Except that’s where you’d be wrong. Because A & Bé Bridal Shop just launched a brand new traveling store called PARADE, and they are bringing affordable designer dresses to the more remote regions of the country that don’t typically get much love from the wedding industry (if the only wedding dress shop within a fifty mile radius of you is David’s Bridal, this is where your ears should perk up).
PARADE is a cool thing that we have just launched. Essentially we are taking our mission of connecting brides to cool designers and removing the barrier of geography. PARADE is a traveling pop-up shop that is going to far-flung places that typically would never get to see these designers—we go to less urban, more remote locations. We’re headed to Wichita and Lawrence in Kansas at the end March and then on to Omaha, Nebraska and Laramie, Wyoming in April.
PARADE isn’t your average trunk show, though. A & Bé are so committed to bringing stylish, affordable dresses to the masses, that they are shutting down their Denver store and packing up their entire inventory for the traveling pop-up shop. Which means you get the entire selection of rad dresses that A & Bé have to offer, not just the castoffs from the main store.
In the meantime, the ladies at A & Bé Bridal Shop have put together a killer stylebook to help you get a feel for what their dresses might look like in action (all of the pictures in this post are from their stylebook). But this isn’t just about showing off dresses; it’s about helping you get past the idea of what “bridal” looks like, and maybe even get to a place where you feel like your wedding dress looks like… you. A & Bé‘s founders Anna and Breanna explained, “Yeah we’ve seen a million styled shoots too—but we hope that these are different. This to me is less about showing an unattainable vision of a wedding/engagement shoot and more about inspiring a bride about what bridal means.”
So if you’ve been feeling like wedding dress shopping is a big old black hole of NO THANK YOU, and you’re worried that you aren’t going to find a dress that feels like you (especially if you don’t live anywhere close to a bridal salon) A & Bé Bridal Shop in Denver and their traveling PARADE shop might just be the thing to cure what ails you. So head over to their website, peruse their incredible designer list, shop their stylebook, and stay updated on the list of stops on their PARADE tour. Then go rock the hell out of your sequins-and-lace or tulle-and-feathers or cowl-backed indie work of magic.
