Bay Area folks. You’re planning your wedding. We’re in the middle of a tech bubble. You can hardly afford your rent (and god forbid you consider moving anywhere ever). And yet. You somehow do not have all the money in the world, because (sadly), you were not an early employee at Facebook. Which means, basically, everything is more expensive than ever, and you’re feeling screwed and sad, and you’ve cried about it at least four times. I know how it goes, because I lived it six years ago in the middle of another bubble, and OF COURSE I cried more than four times, but I have too much pride to admit it. All of which is to say, you’ve convinced yourself you can’t afford wedding photography worth having, and you’re really sad about it.
APW TO THE RESCUE! You can totally afford wedding photography, from an awesome photographer. We’re so happy to introduce you to Hayley Anne: Santa Cruz wedding photographer, down to earth bohemian, photographer in her amazing-hungry-for-it growth stage, super sweet human being, documenter of love. Oh yeah. And her basic wedding photography package is $1,200, with her city hall elopements coming in at just $500.
The best part? Hayley Anne loves you. She told us:
People who’ve found me through APW are my exact. ideal. perfect. type of client. APW readers are true to themselves, other people, and totally respectful. They are kind, and they want to work with someone who gets them. They are excited at the prospect of working with me, and I couldn’t be happier about it.
Hayley Anne is the photographer for those of you who are looking for simple, elegant documentation of your wedding day. She’s the photographer for those of you who want a laid-back photographer to capture who you are and what you’re experiencing, and who will make you forget there is a camera on you. She says:
Sometimes people say they don’t know what they will do during their engagement session. I always say, well, that’s easy, just have fun! It’s kind of like a light bulb moment for a lot of people, and it really is that simple. I’m aiming to capture natural beauty and raw emotion, the true you, in an artistic light. Life is short, love is one of the most powerful things on the planet, so I want to give you inherently beautiful photos from this very important day in your life. I’m photographing for you, not for me, and not for anyone else. I’m getting photos of those moments that show pure joy, love, and happiness. These are the photos that you will keep looking back on, that will leave a lasting impression of a new beginning of the life you share together with your partner. Laugh, cry, stand up on a table and do the chicken dance! It’s your wedding, celebrate in your own way, and I will be right there with you to capture every awesome moment.
I’m probably one of the more relaxed wedding industry people. Tensions can run high at weddings; I like to project the opposite to even things out. I’m one of those down-to-earth bohemian types. It’s who I am. (But no I won’t be randomly wearing a rainbow sweater and moccasins to your wedding… unless you want me to.) I think it makes my couples feel more comfortable in front of the camera and throughout the day. Because hey, having a huge camera pointed at your face is a little weird at first for everyone, unless you happen to be a movie star and are used to it. I get that. But seriously I’m no one to be anxious around, I’m open with everyone and hope my clients are open too. Be normal, be crazy, be yourself.
Rates you can actually afford
And the very very best part (other than the pictures, and the awesome philosophy, and the laid-back human being)? You can probably consider affording Hayley Anne. Her basic wedding packages start at $1,200. Her inclusive packages start at $2,800. (Which includes eight hours of wedding day photo coverage, two photographers, an engagement session, an online gallery, and edited high-resolution digital images.) Elopements start at $500. A la carte and custom coverage is available as well.
Because she loves you, Hayley Anne is offering the following bang up deal: 10% off through May for all APW readers who mention this ad and book a wedding.
One Free International Destination Wedding, where the client only pays for travel. Take her someplace!
Here is why she wants to travel to shoot your wedding:
I love traveling and I love photographing weddings. This is why I do destination weddings. I want to do more destination weddings, in Hawaii and anywhere. I want to meet those other adventurous souls who are getting married in a place they appreciate and connect with on a fundamental level, and who are absolutely ecstatic to go trekking into the wild with me for those totally impossible to replicate this insane beauty type of wedding photos. I know you are out there somewhere. Tell me where you’re going. All I need is a plane ticket and I’m there.
I missed this
For a long time, part of the joy of running APW was introducing you guys to wedding photographers who were in the early stages of building their businesses. I loved it. It meant helping people find photographers they could afford. Because I remember sobbing to David that my favorite photographer in the WHOLE WORLD had a package that was $5K, and I knew that was a little over budget but could we pleeeeaaaassssseeeee consider it? At which point he informed me that apparently “double our budget” was not the same as “a little over budget.” But it also meant helping people find photographers who were artistically growing at rapid-fire speed, and were going to deliver awesome photos for a very reasonable amount of money. Because I remember that we hired our photographers before they’d quit their day jobs, and our photographs are super beautiful. But as time has gone on, and APW has grown, more and more of our photographers have become really established business owners. And as awesome as that is, I miss getting to introduce you guys to affordable photographers who are just starting to make the magic.
So today, I get to. Hayley Anne Photography in Santa Cruz. Bay Area, she’s here to save the day.
