Favorite Thing About the Wedding

The getting married in the slightly wet, warm, and crowded little lodge and then dancing my ass off with all the very best people I know.

Other Cool Stuff We Should Know About

Our wedding had a title: WedSTOCK. And it was awesome, but also kind of a mess (but so am I, so it was perfect). Our lovely outdoor wedding quickly became an indoor one when it started to pour. It was the best thing to happen all day. We wrote our own ceremony with help from our friend-iciant and poet. She performed it beautifully in and out of the rain. We wrote our vows the morning before the wedding snuggled in bed together. We didn’t have a recessional. Instead as the ceremony ended, our musician friends started playing Hall and Oates “You Make My Dreams” and we all started dancing. We had three bands, one of them was my husband’s. There were s’mores (and I am still bummed I never got one). There were glow sticks galore. Guests were encouraged to wear “festi-wear.” We had a coloring poster for a guest book with festival people, all of the bands, and a portrait of us on it.

STAY TUNED LATER TODAY FOR Sam & Andrew’s HOW WE DID IT POST, Because you know you want to know how They Pulled off of a multi-Band Festival wedding.

Oh, “You Make my Dreams” by Hall & Oates is our recessional song! I’m already grinning my face off just thinking about it!
This is amazing and I love your dress! Seems so boogey-down approps!

That was one of my biggest motivating factors when choosing a pattern. Could I dance, sit, generally be comfortable? When I tried on the dress that would become the approximation of the final one after a bunch of really pretty but heavily structured dresses, it was like a breath of fresh air. It had a bit of boning in the waistband, but the top was all fabric (yea for straps that make that possible!) and the skirt was a three layers of really beautiful and lightweight silks. It was so lovely next to my skin!

I really like your dress, and how fun this wedding was!
