Hey APW,
Who doesn’t approach the new year with plans for a clean desk, and a fresh start (and a refreshed approach to sequins and sanity, if you have my job)? But uh, that’s not quite how our New Year’s week shook out over here. When you have an asthmatic kid, winter is not your favorite time (respiratory viruses and more respiratory viruses), and this week found us in the Emergency Room (twice) and in the hospital overnight (twice) with various levels of terror and exhaustion. Hospitals run you through the gauntlet of negative emotions—fear to boredom to bone tiredness to annoyance—all in a rapid and random fashion. However, if you’re lucky, they also give you a good grip on gratitude. So now that we’re all home and on the mend (because obviously I got the virus too, why not), we’re approaching 2015 with a real sense of gratitude for what we’ve got, for the great care we received, and for each day we’re not in the hospital.
Wishing the best for all of you this 2015, even if finding that good doesn’t look quite like you’d hoped it might.
But seriously, can someone bring me a nap and a nice dinner??
