HEY APW,
So my first Alt Summit was a whirlwind of meeting super kind, stylish, smart women and realizing they had like, 50 million instagram followers, ran three companies, had four kids, and knew how to walk in heels all day. (JK but sort of.) Not intimidating AT ALL.
But then it was over and I was totally ready to go. I’d packed my bags and thought fondly of home…but a blizzard known as Jonas had other plans. Turns out I was stuck in Salt Lake for a few extra days. But, because my boss is awesome (her name is Meg, in case you didn’t know) I got to keep staying in the Grand America (with it’s fancy pool and chandeliers) while waiting to make it home. I did however have two days in Salt Lake City to kill, and I’d already spent my LAST trip to Utah secretly making out with my (then) girlfriend in the top of the LDS temple while my mom argued about creationist theory in the lobby, so no need to do that again.
Turns out, it was SUNDANCE! So I hiked across town in the snow to grab a ticket to a dreamy Chinese romance film, then had a drool-worthy pork-belly brunch bowl, excellent local coffee served by super-cool (and, um, cute) baristas, and…rented ski gear. I mean, when life gives you lemons you make lemonade. When life lands you in same town as one of the ONLY ski-only mountains (#sorrynotsorry, boarders) in the US, you get your ass to the slopes. And that is how I ended up skiing alone for first time in my life. And yes, if you’re wondering, I totally wiped out on my last run. And it was fabulous.
