Four years ago, we got married. Three years ago, we celebrated in Rome. Two years ago, you gave me a necklace at an Italian restaurant on a foggy night in San Francisco. One year ago, we picnicked by our wedding venue during my enormously difficult pregnancy. This year, in our design-y LA vacation rental, you made our baby laugh so hard he could only make squeaking noises and almost fell over.
When we got married a friend told us that she didn’t believe in marriage, and I pointed out that it was something that simply existed. I wonder now if we weren’t both wrong.
Marriage is something entirely new. We create it every day.
Here is to all the days in the world.
Love,
Meg
