We met in university nine years ago. We were both fine art students. Pok was shy, but when he smiled he had two charming dimples. We both love hiking and natural landscapes. Being from Hong Kong, we wanted to escape the crowd and summer heat. We loved the idea of visiting Iceland and spending time together in a beautiful location but didn’t like the idea of saving money, and not touching it, to use it for only one special wedding day.
Traveling and seeing the world was more of a priority for us, so having an intimate celebration with just us two in Iceland seemed like the perfect fit. We tried to be honest with ourselves, and simplify the unnecessary.
FAVORITE THING ABOUT THE WEDDING
I think the meeting of all of us in Iceland is a crazy twist of fate. We saw through Instagram that Jess of Daring Wanderer Photography would be in Iceland at the exact time we planned on heading there from Hong Kong. Naturally we got in touch to ask if she and Matt would document our elopement.
Another favorite moment would be when Pok and Matt were playing football (soccer) after the shoot in a remote town in northern Iceland. What a coincidence that they both have such a passion and love for the sport. It was amazing to watch the one you love, doing his favorite thing with a new friend from the other side of the world.
