Other Cool Stuff We Should Know About
Will’s mom dried all the rose petals to throw from her garden in the year before the wedding. His aunts spent an entire day cutting and stringing the tassel garlands for our dance room. And the day before the wedding, when we all should have been getting ready for the rehearsal dinner, my friends and family and I were traipsing through the woods collecting sticks and pine cones to spray paint gold for the table decorations. Despite any difficulties in planning a wedding from afar (and using lots of Google Translate), everyone made it in one piece and the day went off without a hitch. This was largely due to the help of our family friend Liz, who bravely volunteered to be our day-of coordinator, my new sister-in-law Alex, who deftly handled styling my kinky hair, the logistical legwork of both our sets of parents, and all of Will’s guy friends, who sat at a long table stuffing rose petals into satchels all afternoon.
The day after the wedding we heard that everyone continued to run into each other, all over Italy. Friends decided to alter their plans to spend more time with people they had only just met at our wedding, and after the immense, heart-bursting love of our wedding day, we felt like the bond continued on with everyone we loved.
Favorite Thing About The Wedding
Standing with my parents before the ceremony, running toward Will in the darkness with sparklers, and taking a small Italian minibus to the local pub for the after-party, where we got to bask in the afterglow.
