Jamey Thomas Photography in San Francisco

APW is pleased to welcome a brand new San Francisco Photography sponsor, Jamey Thomas Photography. Jamey mixes the best of classic wedding photography with a focus on authentic moments, with a relaxed and positive shooting style. For those of you who have been looking for someone who can do a classic portrait just like your parents and grandparents had, Jamey is your guy.

When asked to describe his philosophy Jamey said:

I like photographing authentic, heartfelt occasions, and I like people with a realistic perspective on our commercial and consumer culture.  People that appreciate the APW aesthetic will be more likely to value my low-key, heartfelt approach and hopefully respond to the classical nature of my pictures. When photographing people I try to create a relaxed and accepting atmosphere; the hope is to let people be themselves and express themselves because that’s when people are at their best. I care about the pictures. It’s a body of work I’m proud of and I think the images will be as good or hopefully even better over time. My approach to covering a wedding is a deep background in commercial photography including advertising, catalog and editorial; the desire to document and celebrate the event rather than orchestrate or produce a pre-conception; an appreciation of people in all their variety; and a classical pictorial sensibility.

And beyond all that, Jamey Thomas Photography values simple and clear pricing and business practices, which is always a win. His pricing is phenomenally affordable for the San Francisco Bay Area, with a six hour wedding costing $1800, with each additional hour $200. Plus on top of that, for the next month he’s offering a 20% discount to all APW readers who contact him with the code APW2013. (What?! Get on that.) All final images are individually adjusted and delivered in hi-res color and black and white. It’s simple and classic, just like Jamey Thomas Photography‘s images. Happy photographing, San Francisco!

I’m not getting married anywhere near SF, but I’ve been looking in vain for styles of photography that I like — until now! Thanks for the inspiration, Jamey!

I just sent my deposit in to Jamey a couple of weeks ago for our August wedding that will basically be an afternoon in a park in the East Bay. I am so excited!

The process of meeting with him, discussing details, etc. was extremely smooth. He is a down-to-earth, friendly, unassuming guy. My Ben is extremely shy/skeptical of new people, but he thought Jamey was great.

His manner matches his photo style, in my opinion: real and sincere. I definitely get the impression that he will be doing his thing at the wedding without being intrusive. And for me, somebody that was NOT forcing people to pose every 20 seconds was a must…though he must also magically still get amazing photos of everyone ;) Kidding, sort of.

Everyone has their own style and feel for their wedding day, but if you’re looking for laid back, down-to-earth, natural moments I think Jamey is your guy. And that discount is awesome. Compared with a few other photographers I met, he was the least likely to try to push more expensive packages or extras.
