Lace & Liberty Will Make You Rethink Wedding Dresses

Made-to-measure separates mean two dresses for the price of one

I’ll be the first to admit I’m kind of obsessed with bridal separates. They’re like the choose-your-own-adventure book of wedding dresses. Wish you could wear a long dress for the ceremony and a cocktail dress for the reception without having to throw down for two expensive dresses? DONE. Want an easy way to add sleeves to a wedding dress? DONE. Think it would be lovely if you could make this all happen for under $1,000? No problem. And there’s no one we know of that’s doing bridal separates better than Lace & Liberty.

What makes Lace & Liberty different is that separates are all that they do. Which means every item in their shop is specifically designed to work with other pieces: from tops and skirts, to little white dresses that you can throw a skirt over to make a formal wedding gown. Check it out:

I mean, right?! Killing it. Here are a few more reasons Lace & Liberty might make you rethink a one-piece dress:

custom made just for you: With Lace & Liberty, every single piece is made to measure, just for you. Needless to say, this is a major win if you don’t normally fit into standardized size proportions (I’m looking at you, hips). So whether you’re petite, tall, or plus sized, or just have a top and bottom half that aren’t perfectly symmetrical (aka most of us), Lace & Liberty operates under the belief system that your wedding dress should fit right the first time, not after a dozen expensive alterations.

the fabrics, y’all: I actually had a chance to sit down with the two female founders of Lace & Liberty last year when they were in Oakland, and bless them, they hauled a giant duffel bag to our neighborhood just so we could touch and feel the fabrics they use. And it was worth it. One of my biggest frustrations with wedding dresses is that anything seemingly affordable is invariably made of hard scratchy lace, coarse tulle, or almost plastic-like satin. But Lace & Liberty separates are like clouds of soft, flowy awesomeness. And what’s best, you can build an entire look starting at just $750 (tops range from $300 to $500, Little White Dresses are $495 to $630, and skirts fall between $300 and $975.)

Founders Danielle and Jacqueline explain:

Our favorite part of our job is to hear feedback from our brides. We love being able to solve a problem that they may have had during their wedding dress search, to be a part of their wedding day, and especially to see their photos afterward! There is nothing really more rewarding that to see a happy bride on her wedding day wearing something we created.

try it on at home: If you’re nervous about committing to a dress you’ve only seen online, never fear. There are two ways to get your hands on Lace & Liberty dresses before you buy. First, if you’re in the Bay Area, you can make an appointment to try one on in their studio right here. Or if you’re not local, then for $30 they’ll send you a box with one top and one skirt to try on at home. Bam. And while their standard turnaround time is eight to twelve weeks, the ladies at Lace & Liberty are happy to accommodate most rush order requests (which is like magic in an industry where most dresses supposedly take six months to make).

So whether you’re dreaming of an easy way to create a wedding dress that feels like you or want the flexibility that bridal separates offer (hello dance floor!), Lace & Liberty has just what you’re looking for. See more Lace & Liberty dresses in action, then click right here to start creating your wedding look.
