Other cool stuff we should know about: From the beginning, we made spending time with our guests our top priority. We found a house near the venue that could sleep twenty-six people (one third of our wedding guests) to provide a place for some of our family and friends to stay. People from different times in our lives were all able to meet and hang out. By the time of the wedding Saturday night people who met the day before acted like old friends.
All of the bouquets and centerpieces were created by friends and family, using flowers we all picked together at a farm two miles from the venue. Our venue is the clubhouse of a Hood River Forest search and rescue organization.
We did a family dance instead of father-daughter, mother-son dances right after our first dance. Dancing with my eighty-five-year-old grandma was amazing. Toward the end, our family members formed a circle around us. It was the perfect way to symbolize the way our two families came together to support us.
Favorite thing about the wedding: Having all our closest family and friends together at the same time.
