Sponsor Introduction: LeahandMark.com

Ladies of the south (are you excited by that intro? Because I thought you might be….)Finally, finally, finally, finally, FINALLY…. we have some low-key, practical, wanna hang out with you guys and shoot your weddings, photographers in the SOUTHERN PART OF UNITED STATES. What? Yesssss. They are Leah and Mark, they are married, they are *really* good, they have up-and-comer prices (that I somehow suspect will keep going up…), and they are located in Atlanta.I’m going to tell you more than a few cool things about them, but I felt like I should lead off with the fact that they are offering a 20% discount to all Team Practical Weddings booked by April 2010, and (drumroll please) *No Travel Fees* for any weddings taking place east of the Mississippi. So, allllll you ladies in Florida? I’m looking at you.Ok. About Leah and Mark. First of all, lets talk about their pictures. This is a weird thing to show, but I felt totally compelled to show you this calendar they’ve made of all their recent work:
I tend to look at and hire photographers not just because they have good wedding shots, but because their shots of babies make me cry, or their shots of steampunk balls make clap my hands with delight, or their shots of bad-ass ladies make me go “GRRR.” And they’ve got all that.

But they’ve got so much more. Their wedding shots are fantastic, they care more about capturing emotion and the feeling than that trendy shot, and they want to work with YOU. They told me, “We love photographing weddings in less traditional venues, from the basement of an old hotel that’s now used for local bands , to a small, family-run organic farm . We appreciate the heart and soul that goes into making the wedding a reflection of the couple’s bond, their community, and the things they hold dear (or just get a big kick out of!).” Because YUP! That’s you guys. But… there is something more. They give 10% of their profits to the micro-lending service Kiva (Ahhhh! So great). And they got engaged on the Great Wall of China. Which I just thought you should know. But realistically, you southern Team Practical members are not even reading me anymore, because you’re over at LeahanMark.com… But if you are here, you need to go look at their video of wedding pictures, stat.

  • kiva! I approve.

AWESOME! As a former bride [now old married lady] in Atlanta, I can tell you we need more of these folks in town. The southern bells do not often lean towards Team Practical [don't get me started on Ellen at Pricilla of Boston and her suggestions for 'proper' wedding attire]. Thanks!

  • Meg

Though oddly, a lot of you guys *do* lean towards team practical… which is why I've felt so badly I've had no sponsors on offer for y'all.

Seems y'all are Southern bells on the outside, bad-*ss on the inside ;)

  • Awesome photos! They sound like a great team.

  • HEYYYYYY! Those are our photographers! We have an upcoming pre-wedding photo shoot with them in about 2 weeks and are super excited to have them for our October wedding. In addition to being very talented, Leah and Mark are totally cool people with whome you'd want to share a beverage or a meal :)

p.s. Book them now while they're a bargain. This can't last long!

  • Jen

Technically St. Paul is east of the Mississippi….does it count? :)

  • @Rebecca

:-) Our 20% APW discount applies to EVERYONE, everywhere.

Our small travel fees may or may not apply to weddings taking place West of the Mississippi (we take many things into consideration) – so any interested parties should definitely give us a holler.

  • @Meg,

Yes. Yes, we are. Let me just share my absolute favorite quote about a "true" Southern woman, because it can be oh-so-true:

"The Southern Woman: she is required to be frigid, passionate, sweet, b*tchy, and scatterbrained – all at the same time. Her problems spring from the fact that she succeeds."
    ~Florence King

With that said…HOORAY for cool Southeastern vendors! We may have a friend doing our photography, but if not…you can bet I am checking these guys out. I mean, nontraditional venues? Hello! We're getting married in an amphitheatre! Where later on that night we'll (hopefully) be performing Shakespeare!

  • Meg

I discourage people promoting in the comments, beloved photographers or no. It's a bit unfair to the people in this post. Feel free to send them on to me though, I'd love to chat with them if you think they are excellent..

  • Meg

No hard feelings lady! I want to find you guys people so badly!

    @Everyone else
Sorry this conversation is a hot mess, everyone was editing everything trying to keep everyone happy :)

  • "southern belles on the outside, bas-*ss on the inside. " I'll have to remember that! Fantastic resource for us southern gals. :)

  • Thank you for this!! I am in Georgia and looking for a great photographer. I'm so happy you posted this! I'm going to look at their site now, and I still haven't finished your post (I stopped at 20% discount and no travel fees!!). Many, many thanks!
