I am particularly touched by Angela's wedding graduate story because it (like so many of the recent graduate stories) comes with the gift of some perspective. Angela wrote to tell me that life over the last few months has been hard, and looking back at her wedding this summer through the lens of a difficult fall, she was able to see very clearly what mattered and what didn't. I particularly wanted to share this story for each of you who is dealing with the big stuff, the hard stuff, and trying to grapple with what a wedding means in this context. From the bottom of my heart I can tell you that it means something. It means hope. And it means precious memories. And with that, I'll let Angela do the talking: Continue reading Wedding Graduate: Angela And The Golden Gate Park Picnic Wedding

I've been all a-twitter about picnic weddings of late, but this picnic wedding has just about everything you need - a thrifty couple, a forest, adorable babies... what else do you need? This magical forest bash was shot by sponsor Kate Harrison, and the bride is a reader of the blog (which is a pretty exciting combination for me!)

This fantastic picnic wedding was shot by practical sponsor Keira Lemonis. I love featuring picnic weddings because, well, I love picnics. They are fun, laid back, and affordable to throw. (And did I mention, fun?) So mixing picnics with the overblown world o' weddings seems like the perfect antidote. How can you talk your wedding super seriously if you have a "head picnic blanket" instead of a head table? My favorite parts of Patty & Trent's wedding are that they had a pot-luck dessert buffet, let people bring their dogs, and had had dog treats at the dessert buffet! Awwww.... There are some weddings out there that make you think something like, "How ever did they find that deep shade of eggplant for the brides shoes?" and then their are some weddings, every now and again, that you see and you say to yourself, "Self! I wish I was at that party, because that party is my kind of party." Kate and Colemine's wedding is one of the latter. This wedding was shot by today's sponsor and photographer extraordinare, Jessamyn Harris.

Remember way back when when I posted about picnic weddings? Well, Amanda emailed me to tell me all about hers, and now that its said and done she sent in pictures! Amanda and Eddie had a classic, old fashioned church wedding, which was followed by a delightful, budget, picnic reception. I'm so excited to finally be able to share this practical picnic wedding!

Stop the presses! I have a new favorite budget wedding! This one is via Real Simple Weddings, and it's a picnic wedding. A picnic wedding just wasn't practical for us, but I love them. The very best part of this wedding? The couple was aiming to keep the cost under $10,000 for their 100 person wedding, and (drum roll please) they came in UNDER budget!
