This Sunday, 4pm, San Francisco

What are you doing this Sunday, San Franciscans? No plans yet you say? Brilliant. Perhaps you would like to come hear me speak at Fizz & Frills, a stylish wedding event hosted by Utterly Engaged. This Sunday at 4pm I'll be speaking on, "How to be a Bride and a Wife on your own terms" (or, the foundational question of APW), with Weddingbee's Editor-in-Chief. Also, APW Editor Kate and I will be hanging out and chit-chatting afterwards. I think you should meet us there. Tickets are $15, and you can come early and shop. Let's pack this Q&A with super-smart ladies asking super-smart questions, making it a killer off-line discussion.

Seattle, Sunday October 9th

I'm delighted to announce that I've been asked to moderate the Offbeat Empire panel at Geek Girl Con in Seattle on Sunday October 9th. I'll be talking to the ladies of Offbeat Bride, Offbeat Mama, and Offbeat Home (including Ariel herself, and OBT moderator and APW Sponsor Ang) about building a business in a geeky industry. The panel is titled, "Rocking the geek niche: Nerdiness is your superpower" and I think you should come see it. Tickets are $30, and earn you admission to Friday's Offbeat Empire Party at Urban Light Studios. I find this speaking event particularly amusing, since I come from a geeky family (mathematicians, scientists, Star Trek lovers, we've got them all), and am the only non-geeky person in the crew. Though I am a professional blogger, hum.

So come, hear me talk in San Francisco or Seattle, and say hi afterwards, yes? I'm a very entertaining speaker, and I'm speaking with the very smartest of women.

It's a busy and exciting day over here! APW is in the Wall Street Journal today. I'm quoted on the WJS blogs, talking about what wedding registries really mean, and David and I are quoted in the Wall Street Journal proper on how we built our wedding registry. Go check it out!

Meg on The Kitchn!

Hello All!

The fun continues this morning. I'm on The Kitchn right now, talking about Team Practical's very best advice for self catering your wedding. So go, enjoy.

Smooches,

Meg

Meg on The Kitchn!

Oh, hello!

I'm on Apartment Therapy's The Kitchn today, discussing food (something I discuss a lot in real life), how simple can be great, and how I need to unplug on a regular basis. Yay Kitchn! Also, remember when one of the Kitchn editors Faith was a wedding graduate? She's still one of my all time favorite grads, with her honest talk about religion and hospitality and, well, food. So enjoy!

You know Intern Lauren, and Alyssa of Ask Team Practical Fridays? They are APW staff members now. Thanks to reader generosity during our subscription drive in November, they are now paid for their work at APW.

So let me introduce you to Assistant Editor Lauren Dupuis and Columns Editor Alyssa Mooney. In a few weeks they'll have bio's and pictures in the About section of the site, so I'll keep you posted on that.

And while we're on the subject of staff, Alyssa was quoted in a Times Union story about affordable weddings this weekend. I was also quoted at length, and the article is hands down the best one that's been written to date about the philosophy of APW. So go read it. Plus, there are out-takes of our interview on the Times Union blog, just in case you've ever wondered what it would be like to gab with Alyssa and me on the phone about wedding planning. It includes Meg-quotes like this one:

You’re not marrying the dress. And you’re not marrying the location. It’s probably important that you find a relatively perfect spouse, but if you’ve accomplished that, you’re probably not going to live with a lifetime of regret.

So enjoy.

But mostly, cheers to Lauren and Alyssa, who work so hard behind the scenes for you. We love these ladies, and they love their new jobs.

Thanks Team Practical, you made all this happen, every single one of you. And we're very grateful, all of us.

Ladiessssss (and a few gentleman),

As you may know, The Sisterhood of The Traveling Dress is one of my favorite projects in APW history ever-ever. It makes me so d*mn grateful that I'm writing this site, and that you all are the kindest, smartest, funniest women ever (and no, I'm not writing this drunk).

The Sisterhood of The Traveling Dress got it's first press mention in an article about recycling in the Atlanta-Journal Constitution this week. I had the surreal experience of doing an interview from Rome, as the evening bells were chiming outside my window. I wasn't interrupting my vacation for much, but you bet your *ss I interrupted it for The Sisterhood.

Thanks ladies. You make my life better every day.
