Why do you want to work with APW Couples?
The blogging/Pinterest community has done a lot of good for wedding planning, but it’s also stolen the focus from what truly counts; two people who love each other deeply & want to celebrate that more than anything else. I shoot about 2 dozen weddings a year and the ones that stand out for me are always the couples who genuinely love each other and are interested in a marriage more than a wedding. I want to get back to what matters & I believe APW couples have their priorities straight when it comes to wedding planning.
Describe your artistic approach to weddings?
I prefer to stay as hands-off as possible during the entire day. I don’t go off of checklists or “must-have” shot lists (except for family formals) because it takes away from the authenticity of your unique wedding day. I want to be there to provide documentation of what unfolds that day so you can look back and remember it any time. I photograph your day as it happens and only step in to give subtle direction during bridal party portraits, family portraits & couples portraits. I keep these portrait timeslots as short as possible to ensure you get to spend the maximum amount of time with your loved ones enjoying your day (which, I’m sure you’ve heard by now, goes by too quickly). Please contact me for special pricing for elopements and small weddings.
What are your non-work-related hobbies?
I love dancing, cuddling with my dogs (is that a thing?) and spending a lot of time with my family & friends. I’d like to say I love traveling and climbing mountains, but the reality is I’m a homebody who loves watching 90’s TV re-runs and cooking dinner for me & my fiancé. These are a few of my favorite things.
What’s your favorite book?
The Giver by Lois Lowry & almost anything written by Chuck Palahniuk.
What’s your favorite movie?
The intellectual, “I’m so cool & abstract” answer? Awakenings
The real answer? Groundhog Day. I watch that movie on repeat & throw a Groundhog Day themed party every February.
If you could have a one minute dance party at your desk, what song would you pick?
Story of my life. I have multiple dance parties on the daily in my office chair, in the grocery story, at the steering wheel. You name it. So if you think your wedding reception is an exception to this, you’d be dead wrong. If I had to pick? Michael Jackson- Black or White. Hee! Hee!
