Why do you want to work with APW Couples?

APW couples are a sensible, thoughtful group of people, and they feel like old friends when I meet them.

Describe your artistic approach to weddings?

My artistic approach to weddings is to focus on the love. I love people, I love their faces, and I love their love. Gorgeous cakes, flowers and details are great fun to photograph and I really enjoy seeing creativity at weddings, but my main focus, always, is to tell the story of the intense level of joy that comes with tying the knot. This is also my philosophy for family/engagement/maternity shoots, too, where I generally don’t photograph with a lot of props and contrived poses.

What are your non-work-related hobbies?

Taking photos! I do it for fun, too, but I use silly cameras and odd-ball techniques. I also host a few major house parties every year—even though my apartment is way too small—and I’m a voracious reader.

Swamplandia! by Karen Russell

What’s your favorite movie?

Little Miss Sunshine, Dan in Real Life, Juno, Sunshine Cleaning… slice of life indie things.

If you could have a one minute dance party at your desk, what song would you pick?

Get Low by Lil John. In the middle of a long work day, I get up and literally dance from “the window to the wall”.
