Why do you want to work with APW Couples?
I want to work with APW couples because my ideal couple loves all the details & the super fun party, but their #1 requirement for their perfect wedding is having a strong relationship, and an absolute love & adoration for each other. I personally hold intimate ceremonies near & dear to my heart, because my partner & I decided to elope in a tattoo shop, and had a sweet & sunny wedding celebration on a beach a few weeks later with all of our loved ones... it was perfect for us, and I can totally relate to one's need to have a wedding that is their own personal style, and not what is expected by everyone else.
Describe your artistic approach to weddings?
My artistic approach to weddings is deeply rooted in my history as a film photographer; I am an extremely selective shooter, and keep my eyes open for the perfect shot, and my heart open for all the lovely fleeting moments that happen throughout the day. Although I have learned to work with a photojournalistic eye over the years, I pride myself and know that my strengths still lie in portraiture. I love to find light & utilize what is available and have a still moment with my couples with the hopes of creating timeless images... instead of being trendy or full of fanciful fanfare, I hope that my photos ooze love & raw emotion.
What are your non-work-related hobbies?
I love walking! I am not a particularly athletic person, but if I could walk miles & miles each day, I would be one happy human. I love how walking makes me feel connected to my surroundings, and I'm so lucky to live in the famously walking-friendly city of Seattle. I am a nerdy bookworm and an NPR-junkie... I am a dog lover & a social butterfly & a VW van road-tripping nut... and last but certainly not least, I am a devoted mom & wife.
What's your favorite book?
"A Natural History of the Senses" by Diane Ackerman... do I have to choose just one?!
What's your favorite movie?
"Blue Planet," but narrated by David Attenborough, and not by Sigourney Weaver! Again, I love me a good movie, and it's impossible to choose just one. Almost anything but a horror flick... I can't do those. (nightmares!)
