Why do you want to work with APW Couples?
I want to work with APW couples because this seems to be where the real people are. I’m looking for authentic and genuine people who are intentional about their decisions and their lives. They recognize that, yes, big or small a wedding is a fabulous celebration, but what really matters is at the end of the day you’re going to married to the person you like most the world. And that is worth celebrating.
Describe your artistic approach to weddings?
When I photograph a wedding I’m always looking for moments, interactions and expressions. These are the things that will make your wedding story unique. I prefer to let things happen naturally, I think there is a real honesty in documenting moments as they happen. I strive to capture photos that are soft, authentic and natural. These are also words that I hope describe who I am as a person.
What are your non-work-related hobbies?
Antiquing, knitting, canning salsa, attempting to grow food on my concrete backyard, drinking cappuccinos, painting, camping, and eating good food with great friends.
What’s your favorite book?
Ugh, I’m so bad at books. I’d rather just listen to npr. If I had to pick I’d say The Bean Trees by Barbara Kingsolver. This is why: 1) it is the one and only book I read on vacation this year, 2) it is a story of both love in abandonment, 3) it is vaguely about gardening, and I like to garden.
What’s your favorite movie?
Love Actually – because, “To me, you are perfect.”
If you could have a one minute dance party at your desk, what song would you pick?
Anything by Ratatat.
