Why do you want to work with APW Couples?

This is one of those “so easy to answer – but where do we begin?!” questions! The thing we love the most about APW couples is the friendship/relationship we have with them. Whenever we meet for the first time (either in person or via skype) they feel like old friends who we are catching up with over a quick dinner. Also – all of our APW couples are grounded and in tune with the fact that the wedding day is fun, pretty, and exciting, but that we are all really there to witness their marriage and love. It’s the last two elements that APW couples want their photography to reflect and what we take pride in making sure we capture and properly retell the story.

Describe your artistic approach to weddings?

We stay away from heavy aftereffects in Photoshop and a lot of heavy artistic edits. Instead, we prefer to deliver images that are true to life. The way we look at it is that you are hiring us to tell the story of your day – and the story of the day is all about emotion. We want you to be able to look at your photographs on your 50 year anniversary and recall exactly how it felt to see your partner for the first time that day, how it felt to kiss each other, hold hands, and just bliss out.

What are your non-work-related hobbies?

When not working, we spend as much time outside as possible! Chris is an avid mountain biker while Lauren prefers to stick to the roads. We also hike, camp, and take our dog, Zeke, for frequent “dog day” outings in the Adirondacks (Mara, that cat, is a bit jealous but she gets even by stealing Zeke’s bed for days at a time when we return).

What’s your favorite book?

Chris: A Walk in the Woods by Bill Bryson; Lauren: Anything written by Sophie Kinsella.

If you could have a one minute dance party at your desk, what song would you pick?

Lauren: “Shoop” by Salt-n-Peppa; Chris: undecided but would probably have to be a Justin Timberlake song so he can bust out his wanna-be JT moves.
