Why do you want to work with APW Couples?
Quite simply… we want to work with APW couples because we are the same type of people, and anyone we’ve ever met through APW, whether they are a friend or a client (or both), we have always felt like we’ve know each other for years (even if we only just met moments before). We were APW readers long before we were sponsors—so we live the philosophy, we get you, and we’ll get each other.
Describe your artistic approach to weddings?
Our approach to weddings is to capture you being you, and your love as it is every day… whether quirky, silly, romantic, sensual, or all of the above. James and I make sure not to force you to be something you aren’t and to capture your day as it unfolds naturally. We document the majority of the day from a more photo-journalistic/candid point of view – capturing moments you often don’t even remembered happening (James’ specialty)! But during the portrait session of the day Christy takes charge and tends to shoot more editorial (influenced by her commercial photography background), and directs and poses you so that you’ll look and feel fabulous! Overall, we just want your day flow naturally and capture beautiful moments between you and your love!
What are your non-work-related hobbies?
We love to travel and experience other parts of the country and world. We also love to be active because we are naturally squirmy people. haha. :) James prefers a pick-up game of basketball most days, while Christy prefers being outdoors (usually walking Chloe, our pup!), and other things like hiking, biking, yoga, and dancing in the kitchen. On the flip side, we also are total homebodies and love to relax with a glass of wine or a beer curled up on the couch together under a cozy blanket catching up on our favorite shows (The Walking Dead, Girls, Brooklyn Nine Nine, New Girl, and Jimmy Fallon… among many others) while eating leftovers from dinner straight out of the take-out container. (Wait, drinking and watching TV shows don’t count as hobbies?? Well they do to us!) ;)
If you could have a one minute dance party at your desk, what song would you pick?
While James prefers to dance only after a few (too many) drinks, Christy could dance to just about anything, and does most days. Florence and the Machine’s “Dog Days Are Over” is still our ‘happy place’ song and reminds us of the early days of our marriage… so I’d say that is our must-dance song for sure. (And yes, we realize the cool kids got over this song a long time ago… but, well, we’re just not that cool.)
Explain your travel policy:
We are willing to travel anywhere at cost (and do very regularly)! We also love to travel to Madison, Milwaukee, and other parts of Wisconsin (where Christy grew up) for weddings!!
