Why do you want to work with APW Couples?

Quite simply… I want to work with APW couples because we are the same type of people, and anyone I’ve ever met through APW, whether they are a friend or a client (or both), I have always felt like we’ve know each other for years (even if we only just met moments before). I was an APW reader long before I was a sponsor—so I live the philosophy, I get you, and we’ll get each other.

Describe your artistic approach to weddings?

My approach to weddings is to capture you being you, and your love as it is every day… whether quirky, silly, romantic, sensual, or all of the above. I make sure not to force you to be something you aren’t and to capture your day as it unfolds naturally. I document the majority of the day from a more photo-journalistic/candid point of view – capturing moments you may not have even remembered happening. But during the portrait session of the day I look at it as more of an editorial/magazine photo shoot (influenced by my commercial photography background), and direct and pose you so that you’ll look and feel fabulous! Overall, I just want your day flow naturally and capture beautiful moments between you and your love!

What are your non-work-related hobbies?

I love to be active – hiking, biking, yoga, dancing – basically any activity keeps me happy and sane. On the flip side, I also love to relax with a glass of wine or a beer while doing any of the following: hanging out with family/friends, watching trashy TV (*ahem* The Bachelor/Bachelorette… I knoooow, it’s terrible!), watching Dexter (I’m obsessed!), reading a good book (memoirs especially), stalking too many blogs, or just chilling with my husband, James.

If you could have a one minute dance party at your desk, what song would you pick?

Oh man. This is not an easy question for me – because I really could listen to nearly any type of music most days and dance my face off (just ask my husband)! But lately my “I must get up and dance like a maniac” song is Florence and the Machine’s “Dog Days Are Over.” (And yes, I realize the cool kids knew about this song a long time ago… but, well, I’m just not that cool.)
