Why do you want to work with APW Couples?
I was once a bride planning my own wedding and using APW as one of my main resources to keep me grounded and sane, so I can relate to what APW readers are going through. I’ve found APW couples to be absolutely sweet, trust me when I am working, and love what I deliver. And that, to me, is all I can really ask for. I want people to hire me because they like my vision, the final product that I share with them and with the world. I think APW reader Rachelle said it best in a tweet: “I love my guest pics too, in a very different way. But Elissa captured exactly how the day felt for me.” I feel like APW folks and I are on the same page and know that it’s about the moments and the marriage, not just the pretty things.
Whatever you decide your wedding will be, whomever you decide to marry, no matter if you have a million glittering details or a simple affair, as long as you are happy and in love, I want to be there for you.
Describe your artistic approach to weddings?
I promise to make beautiful images at your wedding, and I strive to capture you as YOU. For most of your wedding I will be a fly on the wall, hovering nearby, photographing moments as they unfold, instead of dictating where you should stand or what you should be doing.
I want you to be yourself. Smile when you’re happy, cry when you’re overwhelmed with emotion, laugh when you’re amused. I don’t want you to do it because I tell you to.
The only time I will step in to guide you will be during your wedding portrait session. I will give you direction on looking and feeling comfortable and lovely.
What’s your favorite book?
Without fail, I reread A Little Princess by Frances Hodgson Burnett once a year.
What’s your favorite movie?
I’m addicted to the 1995 BBC mini-series of Pride and Prejudice… Five hours of amazingness. Or Wayne’s World.
If you could have a one minute dance party at your desk, what song would you pick?
Will you judge me if I pick “Everybody” by Backstreet Boys?
