Why do you want to work with APW Couples?

APW couples are the couples I got into this business for. They seem to remember why they’re getting married- I think that’s why I love elopements the most. Elopements are so focused on the ceremony, and I selfishly love that- I think the ceremony is the most important part of the wedding with food at a really close second. APW couples are the only couples I’ve ever worked with and I can’t say I want it any other way!

Describe your artistic approach to weddings?

I believe the wedding is really about whatever the couple wants. If they want me to stand there and shut up while they exchange vows that’s great. If they want my version of a Catholic Mass, I’ll brush up on my Latin. I want to work with the couple to have their ceremony be as “them” as they want. As close to exactly the ceremony they’ve been dreaming of as I can. I want their day to be stress free and happy. I make sure to be there before the couple. I make sure that if they’re late (even 2 hours, it has happened) that I smile when they arrive and bring only joy to their ceremony. This is their day- let’s make it the best we can.

What are your non-work-related hobbies?

Drawing! I love to draw and I’d love to turn it into a “work” hobby. I’ve recently started combining my love for board games and my love of drawing/design to redesign board and card games. I like to run when I can get outside and spin at the gym when I can’t. And I am trying to become a better chef…all the while filling up on baked goods (I love to bake).

What’s your favorite book?

Born to Run. I never felt like I was a runner/could run/would want to run- but reading the book made it feel less like working out and more like a form of expression. On top of that it’s a great story. I’ve been thinking about it a lot as I train for my first half marathon.

What’s your favorite movie?

Heartburn. Meryl Streep as Norah Ephron. I mean, how can you go wrong? The recipes in the book are some of my favorites. I love the final scene when “Rachel” is headed off to her new life with her two little girls. Mommy power. I cry every time.

If you could have a one minute dance party at your desk, what song would you pick?

What Doesn’t Kill You (Stronger) by Kelly Clarkson- my go to running and spinning jam. Need to feel good, strong and get pumped? This is the song.
