Meg - A Practical Wedding
Why do you want to work with APW Couples?
I love working with APWers because you all are incredibly down-to-earth and thoughtful people. Plus you throw weddings that I would love to attend! You view your wedding as a celebration – a unique opportunity to gather all of your favorite people in the same place at the same time (or share the joy of your elopement with everyone at the same moment in time!) I can completely relate to that.
Most important, I love that you want to throw a celebration that really reflects who *you* are as individuals and as a couple. For me, this is truly what wedding celebrations are about. I just feel privileged and proud to work APW couples and help plan such meaningful, personalized and ridiculously fun wedding celebrations.
And one final note, you APWers are a loyal bunch – you are chuffed to be a part of the APW family and you make ME feel like a part of the APW family. So many couples make it a point to tell me they found Glö on APW or that reading APW is one of their top tips for couples who are just starting to plan. How can I not love working with peeps like that?
Describe your artistic approach to weddings?
Our philosophy at Glö is to enable your unique personality to shine through in your paperless invitations and wedding website. You can choose from a wide range of designs (including designs from your favorite APW invitation elves!) or upload your own design. All of our paperless designs have matching paper and/or printable options (yep, we have older relatives too.) You can add a million widgets to your website (think slideshows, a Paypal registry, a countdown, or even a pacman game) or keep it all simple and streamlined. Our technology is designed to fit around *your* celebration structure (Three events with different guestlists? Multiple celebrations in different countries? Bi-lingual guests? No problem!)
I personally love how creative couples get with their ‘vites and ‘sites and how each is as different as the couple themselves.
What are your non-work-related hobbies?
My downtime is mostly dedicated to friends and family. I’m known as the “social organizer” and love nothing more than planning a girlie evening, a family get-together or a crazy weekend adventure with my hubby and young son. I also love connecting people who I think would enjoy knowing one another in work and/or play. I have secret dreams of one day learning how to make jewelry…
What’s your favorite book?
For years, my favorite book has been *The Mists of Avalon* by Marion Zimmer Bradley. It’s the tale of King Arthur told from the female perspective + mysticism. I think I love it for three reasons: (1) The story completely immerses me no matter how many times I read it (2) There are a range of female characters – each with their own strengths and flaws (3) I’m totally fascinated by hearing different sides of the same story. Everyone sees situations in a different light, and they always have their own, unique perspective of what went down.
If you could have a one minute dance party at your desk, what song would you pick?
There is nothing better than dancing around in your socks to “I’m Walking on Sunshine.”
