Why do you want to work with APW Couples?

Having just gotten married ourselves in June, APW was a huge inspiration for us personally as we planned our wedding. We did a major DIY and budget wedding, but it still mattered to us that it was special, unique to us, and of course pretty to look at. But, all in all, weddings are about the MARRIAGE itself, and this is what we feel really sets APW and it’s readers apart from other wedding blogs out there. We are also strong believers in marriage equality (we have experience shooting gay and lesbian couples) and this is also an audience we want to work with more.

Describe your artistic approach to weddings?

What makes us a little different in our approach is that we are very much focused on the specific couple we are shooting. Our approach is never the same because no wedding is the same, no couple is the same, and that is the way we like it. We get to know the couple beforehand so we know their expectations, and we try to capture their day in a way that will tell them their story after their wedding day is over (because the day really does go by so fast)! Our images are fresh, unique, always well thought out and never over-processed. We also never batch edit, we always take the time to do touch ups without charge, and we really believe every image we give the couple should be ones we are proud of.

What are your non-work-related hobbies?

We live on the beach in Seattle and try to spend a lot of time outside when we can (rain or shine….mostly rain). Josh long-boards and Ali likes to ride her beach cruiser (she is also nerdy enough that she has a basket for their Maltese doggy to ride along). We believe that you should marry your best friend, so we genuinely enjoy spending time together. We see a lot of movies, read at coffee shops, love film festivals, and try to catch a lot of the awesome concerts in Seattle.

What’s your favorite book?

If you could have a one minute dance party at your desk, what song would you pick?
