Why do you want to work with APW Couples?

I love weddings that directly reflect the couple not only as a whole, but individually as well. When it’s not about the size of your venue, or the amount of guests, or the cost of your dress or flowers – when it’s about the lives/personalities/ dislikes/likes of the couple that is getting married – that’s when I want to be apart of it. When you document such an event, where immense love is being out-poured from not only the couple but the friends and family as well – it’s inspirational, emotional and what I thrive for. It keeps a meaning, reason and passion for what I do. I consider it an honor to be a part of an unique, creative and intimate wedding.

Describe your artistic approach to weddings?

My artistic approach … I do what I like. I find an inspirational/interesting/unique/gorgeous area and add the couple I am photographing into it. I heavily incorporate the surrounding environment into my photography. I will ask them to stand in a spot and “talk amongst themselves” – be themselves – laugh, cry, hug, kiss, etc. They choose. I have had the pleasure of working with couples that are “amazing” at this task. They are in love and more than capable of entertaining themselves and enjoying each other’s company. At times I do need to alter the scene a bit to get what I want and what I am looking for – but I live for natural interactions, emotions and reactions.

What are your non-work-related hobbies?

Non-work related hobbies – this is difficult considering my job was created through my hobby. I would still consider photographing a hobby. Whether I am getting paid or not, I still photograph. I love photographing. And I love that I still love photographing out-side my job!! I have ridden horses ever since I was 5 years old. Unfortunately, I don’t have the time anymore to ride as much as I used to, but I still have a horse who means the world to me. Horses will forever occupy a large place in my heart. Traveling!! Sign me up!! I love traveling – seeing new places – experiencing new people — and photographing them!! My dog, my four-legged best friend, probably one of my best hobbies. I have recently made a commitment and promise to her and myself that everyday we will have at least 15 minutes of “play -time”. This usually incorporates going for a walk – she loves them, and I love the excuse to step away from my computer and spend some time with her. Life’s busy – but don’t let it pass you by. Take at least 15 minutes a day to smile and enjoy life!!

Favorite Movie – impossible for me to choose one … Dirty Dancing – City of God – Emperor’s New Groove – National Velvet – The Little Mermaid – The Notebook – Garden State … I’ll pause here

Explain your travel policy:

I serve the greater Chicago-land area, most of New York & most of Pennsylvania at no additional cost to my clients. When travel fees do incur, I make the promise to my clients that there’s no frills. No outrageous costs. I make it a point to keep my travel costs as inexpensive as possible.
