Why do you want to work with APW Couples?
I was lucky to find APW in the midst of my own wedding-craze in the beginning of my engagement. APW has been such an inspiration to me and my sweetie (true story, he loves it!) in planning our own wedding, and now I’m just thrilled to be a part of the team and to get to know you all!
You guys are so down-to-earth and know what really matters: Its not just about one day of magic. (Though I do hope your wedding day is magical, in so many ways). Its really about what comes after: the rest of your life in marriage.
And last but not least, I can’t stress how much I love love LOVE when couples become my friends, and since me and my sweetie are also in the engaged-to-newlywed stage, friendships seems to click often. I can’t wait!
Describe your artistic approach to weddings?
Honest: I don’t just mean honest as in “true to reality.” Yes, that too. But I mean more like honest as a child. If that makes sense. I won’t pretend that your wedding is something it isn’t. I won’t make you pose in an uncomfortable way that feels unnatural. I will be discreet and unseen. I’d be happy to take set-up portraits if you’d like me to, of course.
Carefree: That’s how you should feel on your wedding day. In some cases, Its hard not to feel stressed on your big day, but I’ll try my hardest to help with that. No worries, no cares, just happiness and love! I sound like a happy hippie (and I wouldn’t object to being referred to as a happy hippie!) but honestly, it is truly all about you and happiness!
Whimsical: I want to keep it playful and fun for both of us. Some frames I shoot will definitely be imperfect. Oddly framed, from an unconventional angle, or cropping off a seemingly essential part. But sometimes its in those asymmetrical, imperfectly framed moments that the best emotions are found.
One thing about the logistics that is important to note: All my packages include a disc of high-resolution files of all your images. You can print as you wish. I also include all images in lower resolution files that won’t take forever and ever to be uploaded online to share on whatever social website you wish.
What are your non-work-related hobbies?
Rock climbing with my sweetie (he’s kind of a climbing nerd), unhealthy amounts of baking, playing with our foster kittens (seriously, if you’ve never fostered animals, do it now! Its so rewarding and so much fun!), watching planet earth, and drinking wine.
What’s your favorite book?
Please don’t hate me for this, but I really don’t enjoy reading fiction. I don’t know what it is, I’ve always just been a sucker for some really great, nerdy, and knowledge-filled non-fiction book. I studied a pretty wide range of things in college, and I think my favorite subjects to read about are 1. the human mind (its kind of the most amazing thing ever) and psychology in general and 2. biology and evolution. Pretty nerdy, I know. But I’m cool, I promise!
What’s your favorite movie?
I grew up in Colombia with no access to pop culture as a youngster. So when I recently watched the original Star Wars movies for the first time, I became an immediate follower. So there you go. Not only am I nerd, I’ve been an outdated nerd until recently.
If you could have a one minute dance party at your desk, what song would you pick?
AC/DC- You shook me all night long. I rock my air guitar solo in this one.
