Why do you want to work with APW Couples?
There are so many reasons that we love working for APW couples: they know that good food is important, they know that favours really aren’t. They throw truly excellent parties, but they never question that their vows mean more than their first dance. They don’t freak out if they get champagne on their dresses or if their aunt turns up wearing white. But most importantly, they let us in. APW couples truly let us be a part of the day, to see the raw stuff, the gritty stuff, the stuff that makes the photos that they’ll look at in 50 years and still skip a heartbeat. They welcome us and embrace us (often literally, which we’re fine with btw) and always make us feel so grateful that we get to witness their love. And you can’t beat that.
Describe your artistic approach to weddings?
Our philosophy, in its simplest form, is that we believe in the beauty of reality. We believe that your love, your wedding (however it may manifest itself) is enough. That there is magic there in all of that emotion and that our job is to capture small pieces of it forever, without interfering. We believe that whatever your family situation, however many people you have invited, whatever amount of money you’ve thrown at this day, your wedding is a celebration of your love and that there is little that is more beautiful than that.
What are your non-work-related hobbies?
Cara: making babies
Nye: sailing, reading about sailing, thinking about sailing. Sailing.
What’s your favorite movie?
Cara: it’s a two way tie between Con Air and All About My Mother
Nye: Seven Samurai
If you could have a one minute dance party at your desk, what song would you pick?
Cara: Burning Love, by Elvis. It’s impossible not to dance, sing and thus be cheered by Burning Love.
Nye: Can’t Touch This, by MC Hammer (it makes the babies dance.)
