Why do you want to work with APW Couples?

Because they are sometimes geeky, often creative, but always fun.

For me, APW takes the sugarcoating out of the wedding world and leaves the tasty treat beneath. And because of this, I've gotten to work with the most real, beautiful, perfectly imperfect APW couples. I have embraced each as family, got dirty, made veils and bouquets, cried during your speeches, and had pep talks that were sometimes challenging. I've been able to be honest that we're not going to photoshop you to look thinner because you should embrace who you are and love yourself. You've sent me pictures of your dress disasters and your then dress solutions. I've told you no when I felt the need to uphold the priorities of my business, and you've understood and embraced me back. You've realized how much I care about you and want to be involved. You let me be a crazy artist, and I catch you when you're laughing and crying and being, because that's what it's about. I've been able to remember with you that this is about your union and the celebration to commemorate it—not about having a "perfect" wedding.

Describe your artistic approach to weddings?

Little Bat is about floating around the room documenting things as they happen rather than requiring your attention when you should be having the time of your life. I go light on the posing and heavy on the organic flow, catching everything as it happens (sometimes while standing on chairs or hiding behind trees to catch a perfect shot).

What are your non-work-related hobbies?

When not photographing things around me, I am making collages (www.prettyfunthings.com) or wandering flea markets. I read books back to back and indulge in secret special worlds that don't exist through children's fiction and art. I listen to records on Sundays on my living room floor and I have a tad of an obsession with vintage hats and dresses.

I don't have one. I have 4: A Wild Sheep Chase, Murakami, Gone With The Wind, Giovanni's Room, Other Voices Other Rooms (Capote)
