Why do you want to work with APW Couples?
The awesome couples! I love working with down-to-earth clients who care about the important stuff: their families coming together, friends celebrating, and the marriage that lasts long after the party is over. Couples who approach the big day with those things in mind have fun with planning the wedding and making details that are meaningful to them, but they end up enjoying their own wedding day more because they’re there for the big picture.
If that describes you, then I think we’d be a great fit. You do the laughing, the hugging, the jumping for joy, and the marrying, and I will document it all with contemporary, artfully-crafted photographs.
Describe your artistic approach to weddings?
Great photography begins with collaboration. We get to know each other, we have some fun, and I learn what excites you most about your wedding. That’s how I make pictures that reflect who you are as a couple, your personal story. You have some crazy, wonderful ideas — homemade fascinators, a ceremony in an art gallery, some surprise dance moves — and I can’t wait! But most of all, my clients’ personalities and relationships inspire me, driving my creative work. When you hire me I am 100% on your team, and I feel like a friend who is rooting for you in a big way.
So, let’s break the mold! If you are planning an elopement or very small ceremony, if you are getting married in a lipstick-red dress, if you are a couple who doesn’t look like a standard bride and groom cake-topper, if you are traveling to a place most people have never heard of… give me a call.
What are your non-work-related hobbies?
Hanging out in my Wicker Park neighborhood with my husband, our little dog Bailey, and our Great Dane Leo. Brunch with friends. Indulgently spending a morning in pajamas with some good fiction. Traveling somewhere unexpected.
What’s your favorite book?
Always changing! Right now my favorite is Americanah by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie.
What’s your favorite movie?
Dirty Pretty Things, I Love You Man, Labyrinth, the Soviet version of War and Peace (it’s AMAZING if you can get your hands on the full version), You’ve Got Mail… I could keep going, I’m a sucker a fun movie and have no claim to good taste. :)
If you could have a one minute dance party at your desk, what song would you pick?
Anything from Janelle Monae!
