Why do you want to work with APW Couples?
I want to work with APW couples because that is/was me. APW couples really understand what they’re looking for, and what they’re not looking for – not because they necessarily have a specific vision, but because they know themselves well enough that they know what feels right to them, and more importantly what isn’t a good fit. I want to make beautiful stationery that feels just right for you, whoever you are, and I want us to all have a good time creating your vision.
Describe your artistic approach to weddings?
I am looking to create the aesthetic that you want, whatever that aesthetic is. I am detail-oriented and slightly obsessive (see my homemade letterpress tutorial) but oh-so-excited to be crafting something for you. I really don’t get higher than with the feeling of delivering exactly the vision a client is looking for, but just couldn’t put their finger on how to express. My work tends to have a traditional flair, but goes beyond flourishes and beautiful paper. I taught myself how to make stationery and letterpress, out of a sheer love for beautiful paper, and I bring that joy to everything I make now.
What are your non-work-related hobbies?
I have quite a few hobbies that I do my best to keep up with. As an extension of my furniture experience at university, I do design work for my dad’s custom furniture company. I am passionate about my amateur photography, and still do my best to shoot my 35mm film camera as often as I can. I love working in a darkroom to develop my own prints from the results. I am a DIY fanatic, and drive my husband up the wall on a regular basis with my harebrained schemes to transform old furniture, fixtures, and whole rooms. I am a passionate reader, a passionate but less-talented chef, and a passionate collector of shoes.
What's your favorite book?
I doubt I could pick just one, but I have special fondness for the Hobbit, by J.R.R. Tolkein. My dad used to read it to my sister and me when we were little, complete with accents for all the characters, and we couldn’t get enough.
