Why do you want to work with APW Couples?
As an APW grad myself, I know the type of people who use this community and contribute to helping others makewhat can be a trying time, a wonderful experience. I want to bring my art and my voice to people who are open minded, creative, and who want something more from their experience. Already, I have made some of my closest and dearest friends through APW, and I can’t wait to meet more.
Describe your artistic approach to weddings?
As a musician I know that music is an intangible language between the couple, the families and friends, and how is lends to seal the bond of marriage. So I approach each wedding as I would a great record. I listen.
Somewhere between “What’s your name?” and “I do” music lives. Understanding who each client is, their vision, and how they relate to music is integral for understanding how music is to be woven into that moment. It is a duet between me and the couple, and like every duet, it should not only be beautiful, but fun.
I take every offer as an invitation and a collaboration, as it always leads to me not just learning who these people are in this beautiful moment, but inevitably something much deeper about myself. Which is why I carefully choose each wedding with care. I want to work with amazing people on something amazing.
What are your non-work-related hobbies?
I am a home brewer of craft beer and an avid soccer fan. I love mexican food to almost obsession, and am a tequila aficionado. I love urban cycling and the SF Giants and iPhone-ography. Puns and bad jokes are my forte, but I keep them at bay so my wife doesn’t roll her eyes out of socket. I love travelling as the pack-mule to my wife and my adventures abroad, and consider myself to be quite fashionable in hiking socks. I also am the official ball thrower for my 6lb toy fox terrier, Sadie.
