Why do you want to work with APW Couples?
APW couples are totally diverse, and they have weddings just as unique as they are. Overall, they understand that marriage is the most important part of a wedding. They want beautiful photos, but they don’t want their wedding to be a photo shoot.
Instead, they want to look back on emotional moments and the important people who shared them. That’s exactly why we think photography matters so much.
Describe your artistic approach to weddings?
Our work is a combination of commercial photography and photojournalism. We are constantly looking for authentic emotion, candid moments, and evocative gesture. However, we aren’t “fly on the wall” photojournalists. We will move things around, manipulate light, and give gentle direction if it means we’ll get a better photograph or video footage.
We come from the advertising world, where deadlines are short, expectations are high, and you’re forced to have backup plans to your backup plans. When it comes to your wedding, we don’t leave anything to chance. We prepare in advance with detailed timelines and shot lists. We have backup cameras, lights, lenses, and file systems.
You can rest assured we’ve got everything visual under control, so you can focus on experiencing every moment as it happens.
What are your non-work-related hobbies?
We explore New York on long walks, make up ridiculous stories for our entertainment, watch lots of movies, make insanely good food, and cuddle our four cats, Pip, Izzy and Oliver, and Harry.
Chris writes his own comics that range from horror to satire to action/adventure, and spends much of his non-work time at comic book stores, comic conventions, and comic book meetups.
Some other random things we love in no particular order: “Buffy the Vampire Slayer;” horror films; “Upright Citizens Brigade;” science fiction; pixar; the ocean; chocolate mousse; and Batman.
