Why do you want to work with APW Couples?
APW couples have got their priorities straight. That’s something that I really appreciate and value in the couples I work with. I became a wedding photographer because I believe that weddings can offer really transformative experiences of love and community and I’m excited to work with couples who believe in that too. Weddings are meaningful and APW couples know that. Beyond that, APW couples are kind and thoughtful and just good people. Also, I really drew strength from APW when I was planning my own wedding. And now that I’m on the married side of things, I want to keep supporting the APW community in all the ways I can!
Describe your artistic approach to weddings?
I believe in letting people be themselves. Sometimes, weddings play a funny trick of asking people to be or act like someone they’re not to sort of “play the part”. I don’t go for that. I never ask my couples to be anyone they’re not. I want you to see yourself in your photos. I want you to see the way you love. I think you’re awesome just as you are.
I believe that photographs should capture real emotion, not the camera version. I like to say my images are filled with heart. I want you to look back at an image and instantly remember just how you felt in that moment. Part of what I do is collect the little moments of your day as they happen, but the other part is creating space for beautiful, emotional moments to happen so the images we create together are filled with your love, joy, quiet and laughter.
What are your non-work-related hobbies?
I spend lots of time with friends. This year I’m trying to perfect the art of the dinner party. I love home design and always have an eye out for cool pieces to bring home to our apartment. I love travel and dreaming about our next destination, eating Sunday brunch with my husband, reading good books- usually in a little patch of sunlight, hiking in the fresh forest air, music shows in small venues. I also shoot a lot of personal work- creative projects and images from the
